Papered Switch Plates : Lightswitch Covers
Show Guide... PAPERED SWITCH PLATES

Sometimes a switch plate is best when painted to blend with a wall. And sometimes a room gets a lift if you make one stand out: Cover with extra-wide ribbon, wallpaper, sheet music, or map of a favorite place. Trace switch plate onto back of paper. Cut paper about 1/4 inch wider than outline; brush craft glue onto back; place switch plate facedown. Cut each corner at an angle slightly beyond corner of plate. Fold sides onto back of plate, using bone folder to smooth. With utility knife, cut X into paper covering switch cutout; brush glue onto flaps; smooth to plate?s back side. Make tiny X in paper covering screw holes. Turn over. Dab glue into holes. Use pin tip to push paper from front to back, opening holes. (When mounted, the screws will hide minor imperfections.) Seal paper with water-based urethane, fabric with Scotchgard. (This crafty little tip provided by Martha Stewart Living)

Switch plates
Show Guide... There are a wide variety of decorative switchplates and the quality varies. Switchplates are usually made of ceramic or similar composite, metal or plastic. Switchplates can be made out of any material including brass or even stone.
Switchplates come in single, double or even triple switch sizes. Switchplates larger than this are available, but harder to find or have to be custom made. The double and the single are the most common. There are also more modern switches where the switches are larger called GFCI/Rocker switches, these do not fit the standard toggle light switch plates, so it is important to make sure that the switch opening is the right size. Whatever the switch plate is called, you should be able to tell if it fits your switch by the picture.
Some switchplates are made by hand using a découpage technique. Art prints, which have been cropped to size, are mounted on each durable steel plate by hand with waterproof adhesive. These plates typically have an acrylic sealer. The screw is often hand-painted to match the background of the switchplate. I don't know about the quality of these plates. Most ceramic or similiar manufactured plates are typically of higher quality.

Guardian Angel Electric Outlet Plug Covers
Show Guide...
Guardian Angel Electric Outlet Plug Covers I just had to write a review/guide for the Guardian Angel cover for outlets and plugs. If you have a baby or toddler running around or coming soon you should get some of these! We have used the flat kind with 2 plastic prongs that pop into an electric outlet but they are easily removed by most any child. The Guardian Angel plug protectors keep plugged in devices from being unplugged, exposing the outlet or prongs going in to the outlet to a child to get shocked.
The Guardian Angels are much different! The plate is installed over a regular 2 outlet plug in place of the plate that is already there. Then each outlet has a snap-on cap that clips right over almost any plugged in device! This is great because the devide can't be unpugged meaning we can protect our children when a lamp or other electrical device IS plugged in. Of course the cap can be snapped on if nothing is plugged in also.
The caps are easy enough for an adult to squeeze to unplug something or plug something in. They're only available in beige but if it proects my grandchild, who cares? Search for Guardian Angel Outlet Covers by looking in Baby Safety & health / Outlet Covers.
