Reviews & GuidesTHE HISTORY OF BDUs - BATTLE DRESS UNIFORMTHE HISTORY OF B.D.U.'s - BATTLE DRESS UNIFORM Firearm Accesories Buyer's GuideFirearm Accesories Buyer's Guide Starting a firearms collection is a great way to learn about history or spend free time doing something you enjoy. I myself collect and study firearms in my free time as well as it being my current course of study at university. The easiest and least expensive way to break into firearms collecting is to buy military surplus rifles. Often these can be found at your local pawnshops and firearm stores at significantly lower prices. You may want to research the types of military surplus weapons that are available as I did. Once you have found your firearm, the thing I have found to increase value and personal satisfaction is adding accesories to these. Accesories complete the firearm in some cases. My first military surplus was a Russian Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle from WWII. When I first got it, it was lacking something. So I started researching. First, I found a great firearms site that had all kinds of information about my rifle. Then I found out the types of accesories my rifle had. Many different slings, stocks, cleaning kits, ammo pouches, and scopes could be found for it. I had trouble locating certain items though and that is when eBay came into play. I found that most of the accesories I was looking for came in lots. This was great because it saved on shipping and time. I was able to get almost everything I needed in one auction so I didn't have to moniter several things at once. ... Army Combat Uniform (ACU)On 14 June 2004 -- the 229th birthday of the United States Army --
the Army today officially unveiled its new combat uniform designed with
major input by the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Corps and enlisted
Soldiers, and tested by Stryker Brigade Soldiers in Iraq since October
2003. Army senior leadership introduced the Army Combat Uniform (ACU)
during a 10 a.m. Army Birthday Pentagon courtyard cake-cutting
ceremony. Soldiers displayed and also suited-up in the wrinkle-free
uniform with a digitized camouflage pattern. Three different versions of the ACU have been developed, and more
than 10,000 uniforms have been produced and battle-tested in the sands
of Iraq and at Army training centers. Even more are on American
production lines to be issued by April 2005 to Soldiers in deploying
units. Current fielding plans call for fielding to the total Army by
December 2007, said officials from the Program Executive Office
Soldier, known as PEO Soldier. This isn't a cosmetic redesign of the uniform. It is a functionality
change of the uniform that will improve the ability of Soldiers to
execute their combat mission. Every change was made for a reason. The
bottom pockets on the jacket were removed and placed on the shoulder
sleeves so Soldiers can have access to them while wearing body armor.
The pockets were also tilted forward so that they are easily
accessible. Buttons were replaced with zippers that open from the top
and bottom to provide comfort while wearing armor. There were 18 changes made to the uniform, to include removing the
color black and adapting the digital print from the Marine Corps
uniform to meet the needs of the Army. The Army's Natick Laboratory in Natick, Mass., took the original
digital pattern to the next level by developing a pattern for
world-wide theaters to encompas... Shopping the new digital camo Army Combat Uniform ACU
About the Different Military Protective MasksThis is a list of most of the us military's protective masks, and a brief description about them. Many people on eBay like to collect these, and I hope that this guide might give them a little insight into what they want, or like. This is not a complete list, but rather a list of the most popular. If you have any questions please email me and I will be happy to help. Chemical-Biological Mask: Field M40-series. The M40-series CB mask consists of a silicone rubber facepiece with a binocular eyelens system and an elastic head harness. Other features include front and side voicemitters (allowing better contact, particularly when operating communications equipment), a drinking tube, clear and tinted inserts, and a filter canister with NATO standard threads. The M40A1 mask provides respiratory, eye, and face protection against CB agents, radioactive fallout particles, and battlefield contaminants. The canister filter cannot be changed in a contaminated environment; the mask was not designed for that contingency. Additionally, the M40A1 mask uses a second skin for additional protection, and also has a quick-doff hood. The primary users include USA and USMC units, and the mask is selectively used by USN personnel. Chemical-Biological Mask: Combat Vehicle M42A2. The M42A2 CB mask has the same components as the M40. In addition, the M42A2 CVC mask has a detachable microphone for wire communications. The canister on the M42A2 mask is attached to the end of a hose and has an adapter for connection to a GPFU. The M40/M42-series masks also use the same filter canister with NATO standard threads, both use a second skin for additional protection, and both have a quick-doff hood. The primary users include USA and USMC units. This is a response to the review issued by aero404ec on Russian Gas Mask. These are the points I would like to address. 1. First of all it is not right to tell people not to purchase Russian Gas Mask. Some Russian Gas Mask do protect against NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) threats. 2. Second, is aero404ec certified to say that Russian Gas Mask doesn?t work? Has he been able to run test on each Russian Gas Mask under NBC conditions? I would say no, I don?t think he would have access to Nuclear, Biological or Chemical agents to be able to fully test the Russian or in this case any gas mask issued by any government agency. 4. However, where agents that cause harm through contact or penetration of the skin occurs, such as blister agent or nerve agent, a gas mask alone is not sufficient protection, and full protective clothing must be worn in addition, to protect from the atmosphere. For reasons of civil defense and personal protection, individuals often purchase gas masks in the belief that they prevent against the harmful effects of an attack with nuclear, biological, or chemical (NBC) agents; this is not the case, as gas masks protect only against respiratory absorption of the NBC. Whilst most military gas masks are designed to be capable of protection against spectrum of NBC agents. The wearer must also have an NBC suit for full protection. www. Merchandize Liquidators . My fellow Ebayers: In light of the latest murderous attempt by low-life, Islamic Fascist Terrorists, it is now critical for each and every person to do their small part. Those of us who feel somewhat helpless, but, wish to do some necessary part to fight the cowards and maniacs that wish to destroy our way of life, must be ever vigilant and patrol the Ebay listings for anything which might support, aid or encourage these evil beings, who care nothing about human life. I would ask that Ebay immediately tailor their search & listing engines to prevent any items which have been proven to aid in the detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices and/or bombs of any kind, type or description. That would include any and all cell phones, timing devices, and actual grenades which have been rendered "harmless" or for "decorative" purposes. In closing, I ask all fellow Ebayers to petition Ebay directly to accomplish this goal and any others which might come to mind. Ebay is a largely unregulated industry which depends on us, the members of the Ebay community, to report suspicious items to their attention. Thank you for taking the time to read this brief letter, Regardless of your political position, please take time to support those who place their lives on the line each day for our survival as a nation. Bob Genuine military surplus is a great passion for many people. For some finding military surplus is just a hobby, for others it is synonomous with high quality or better than commercial. As a member of a military family and family owned Army Navy Store , we offer genuine U.S. military and European military surplus items in addition to military spec items. Military spec means that the item is not purchased by the government and issued to our troops but that the item meets military specifications and is made by a commercial supplier. We carry items from reputable vendors including Rothco, Tru-Spec, Propper, Fox, Cammenga, Corcoran and others. I encourage everyone to email me with any questions you may have concerning genuine and mil-spec items. I know the real deal since I am a member of the MI National Guard and recently served in Iraq. This was my second tour in the U.S. Army (both times as a Supply Sergeant. Hooah! Hello, Most people like to collect military items, for a hobby, or for personal use. It's no secret that some of the items that soldiers recieve are of good quality and will last for a while longer then what's available to the general public. But the same people that want to own these items do very little research about the actual item. I sell many military surplus items, and its rare when I actual get a question about the item, most the questions are about shipping and if I have more. The main thing that buyers should be aware fo is the NSN (National Stock Number) number. All items purchased by the military must have an NSN number in order for the military to be able to purchase them. There are some exceptions to this. such as items purchased unter the RFI (Rapid Fielding Initiative) Items that come from RFI are items like Wiley-X goggles, and some boots. The NSN number will be in this format. or can be broken down to this format is its all one number. (####-##-###-####). four numbers, then two, then three, then four again. As you can see in the pictures below. the first has the NSN number broken down, and the second is all one number. But can be broken down to the format shown above. The first thing you should ask for when thinking about purchasing a military item is the NSN. Is the seller can not give you then it is likely a replica. Many manufacturers produce their version of a military item. The military must put up for bids what ever item it is thinking about acquiring, I.E. a alice pack, or a butt pack. after the lowest bidder wins, some of the other companies that were outbid, produce the item same item for sale to the general public. it might look just like what th... |
