Reviews & Guides3 Essential Items for Every Plus-Size WomanFollowing dressing rules is tough because they often contradict themselves or only apply to one part of your body. Luckily, there are a few all-purpose items that flatter nearly every plus-size woman, whatever your shape! With these basics on hand, you'll never have one of those mornings when you stand in front of your closet and wail, "I look fat in everything!" #1. V-neck and Wrap Tops: My favorite fashion ?do? of all time is the V-neck top. They are miracle workers ? the one item in the world that is flattering on everyone! And a little cleavage never hurt anyone. ;) The cool thing about V necks is that they can both enhance boobs in small-busted ladies and break up the expanse of breast in a large woman, meanwhile distracting from large shoulders by drawing the eye inward. Halters or sweetheart necklines can have the same effect. For pear-shaped women, any kind of open neckline draws attention up, away from your hips and thighs, and accentuates your thinner area. Bottom line: V necks are a good thing! Nearly every top I own is a V neck, and there are plenty of options to choose from: wrap tops, deep V, shallow V. And if you want to tone it down for work, you can always add a lacy cami underneath. Wrap tops and dresses in particular look nice on all women. They accentuate the top, and the ruching or tie details disguise tummy ripples. My favorite top is ... Plus Size Shopping GuideYou've heard the rules before. Wear head-to-toe one color. Keep your arms covered. But the key to looking and feeling good isn't necessarily choosing clothes that hide your body. If you find clothes that accentuate your best parts and let your personal style show, you'll feel much better about yourself. In this tutorial, I'll suggest some guidelines, but in my opinion style trumps all. If you like it and you feel happy in it, screw the rules! Shopping 101 Whatever style of clothes you prefer - or like me, you wear different styles depending on your mood - finding a good fit makes everything work better. Too baggy swallows your shape and makes people think that whole tent of a shirt is full of you. Clothes that cling too much highlight every crevice and dimple. When shopping in a store, always try it on or be prepared to bring it back; when shopping online, always consult the measurements. Also consider fabric. Medium-weight fabrics with a bit of stretch are ideal. You can stay current with your wardrobe without becoming a fashion victim. Pick and choose the trends that look right on your body, and try one trend at a time. Choose mostly cla... Crossdressers, transvestites can look & feel like DivasThis Diva article is being written with a touch of humor for those of us who don't have a barbie doll figure. Looking like a Diva is not about imitating the runway models or the air brushed models in magazines. It is about expressing who we are and being confident and comfortable with our choices. Lets face it, going shopping can be a nightmare when we don't have the perfect body. HELLLO!!! No one does unless they believe they do & honey we do!!! We all do. So how do we strut with style when we'd have to shimmy for days to get into some of those outfits and some of the larger fashions make us feel like our grandma. We won't begin yet to touch on some of those ugggh colors that make us look like we didnt sleep for days. Both of the photos show a size 3X. Its easy to see which would make you FEEL like a Diva. The trick is to find the right size for you so that not only will you LOOK like a Diva wearing it but it feels comfortable.&... STYLE TIPS FOR PLUS SIZE GIRLSNothing is more disappointing than to have a beautiful garment get ruined in the process of cleaning it. By taking proper care of your clothing, you can extend the useful life of the garment considerably. In the long run, taking the time to take good care of your garments will help you save money. It is very simple: Garments that last longer are replaced less often. Always pre-treat spots or stains before laundering. If you get a spot or stain on a garment, treat it as promptly as possible. The longer the spot sits on the fabric, the more time it has to adhere firmly to the fibers. Work on spots and stains from the reverse side of the garment. If you work from the front side, you are pushing the spot into the fabric. If you work from the reverse side, you will push it out of the fabric. Put a white towel under the garment as you work the stain or spot out. The towel will accept the spot from the garment without putting a color that does not belong into the garment. Launder the garment in cold water. Warm or hot water may set the stain further. After you have laundered the garment, check the area where the spot was before you dry it. If the spot did not come out completely, re-treat the stain and launder again. If you dry the garment while the spot is still in it, you may help the spot set in the fabric, making it harder or impossible to remove. Sort your laundry by color. Then, sort it again by fabric weight. Never wash delicates with clothes that can take a more rugged cycle. Example: delicate knits should not be washed with blue jeans. Be careful to use the right temperature to launder the load. If you wash bright colors on a hot temperature, you can expect that... Back when I was a teenager, being plus size meant that you had to shop at old lady stores or just settle for a lot less than what you would prefer..it was just plain depressing, unless you preferred the shapeless tent look the selection was horribly minimal and not appealing whatsoever. The plus size industry has finally started to listen, we also deserve to feel comfortable, sexy and ready to take on the world. The plus size industry has definetely come a long way with their awareness in the past few years providing trendier clothes to the younger crowds up to a size 30 and I believe it will continue to meet the consumers demands and grow increasingly stronger. No matter what your age or style, there is something for every plus size fashionista these days. It's not that easy to find a good deal on plus size clothing even today unless you know where and how to look. Many plus size consumers do not live close to a plus size store and if they do, their selection is still minimal and horribly over priced in most cases. Today, the best way to shop for plus size clothing is online hands down. Finding a clearance rack is great but it would be nice to find the newest and up to date trendy plus size clothing at and around the same prices you would pay for regular size clothing. Teens often can not afford the trendy jeans for $75, unless they can successfully convince their parents of its absolute necessity. As the Plus Size industry grows, so does the competition and with competition that means that we the consumer can start being more picky with our shopping which is great for the consumer and revolutionary for the plus size shopper! Funky, fun, men and womens shoes! Sexy heels! Sneakers! Stilettos and Platforms! Creepers, Gothic, Punk, combat boots. Go-Go boots for that flash to the past! Pirate boots for men and women! Vintage styles that go everywhere! Wedges, slides, peep-toe pumps. White wedding, pink bridesmaid, purple prom, blue formal styles. Red exotic dancer to black maryjanes. Whatever you call them they are THE dress with the most flattering fit and comfortable style for any size woman from petite to supersize! But they're especially wonderful and figure flattering for the plus size, super size, or expectant mom-to-be because they provide the most room/non-binding comfort where it's needed most - more room around the tummy/hip/butt area and hides things we may not like to show! If you want and picture a dress shaped like an "A" with the bottom of the dress being the bottom of the "A" being flared out towards the hemline then please continue reading for some helpful hints when looking for them on eBay! So many words are used by bidders and sellers to basically describe the SAME style dress! When searching for "Muu Muu" style dresses be sure to also use the following searches for descriptions/styles: MuuMuu (no space inbetween words), Lounge, Lounger, Float, Trapeze, and A-Line. Oh and unfortunately some poor seller will use the horrible spelling of the word and put "moo moo". By searching eBay using each of the words above it will help you find and include as many of the same/similar style descriptions that are used to describe basically the same dress by different selllers - a PULLOVER FLARED short sleeve, casual or dressy dress. Oh, I'd better include sometimes searching for Caftan although this style is more straight - not a flared style, and usually doesn't have defined sleeves. But Caftans are comfy too... Plus-Size Clothing Fashion & Buying Guide Women, what is one of our biggest issues? Finding full-figured clothing that will truly flatter our lovely curves. There are hundreds of styles, colors, and brands to choose from, but if it doesn?t flatter our bodies, we will not feel our best. You can almost forget your local department stores?what you will mostly find there is unflattering, droopy frocks that?let?s face it?our grandmothers would wear. This is why Mimi?s Bargains Curvy Girl Boutique was born! This guide has been designed for curvy women of all body types to give you helpful fashion and styling advice about flattering plus-size clothing styles. Let?s take a look at some of the essential pieces in our closets and discuss which would be best for us: Pretty Plus-Size Tops Sexy Empire Waist / Baby Doll Tops LOOK THINNER WITH THESE FASHION TIPS:
It seems that no matter how happy we are with our bodies, we always want to look or appear slimmer. Instead of saying you're going to go to the gym, and never getting around to it, use these fashion tricks to help you look slimmer and sleeker.
1 ? WEAR WIDE LEG PANTS:
While at first it would seem that wide leg pants would make you look bigger than you are, in fact, the wide leg style in most cases creates a nice straight line, creating the illusion of longer legs. This, in turn, makes you look taller and is very forgiving. If you'd like something a little more interesting than traditional wide leg pants, look for cuffed leg, it's a little more chic and fun. Style Note: Try to avoid cuffed pants if you are under 5'5. Cuffed pants tend to make short legs look shorter.
2 ? WEAR BOOTCUT/ SLIGHT FLARE JEANS:
Jeans are an everyday item, and because they're worn so often, they should be the items that we put the most effort into buying. Bootcut jeans, and jeans with a slight flare, are going to be flattering on every body type. Again, we're going for long clean lines, and creating a soft silhouette, which really adds up to a pretty, slimming look.
3 ? DON'T GET CAUGHT UP ON A SIZE:
A huge and very common mistake when shopping is that we get too caught up on the number on the tag, and not the fit. Sizing runs different in all stores, so make sure you try on a variety of sizes to get the best fit. Wearing something that's too small for you can make you look a lot bigger than your actually are, so make sure you find the right fit.
4 ? THE LONGER THE BETTER:
One of my personal pet peeves when it comes to dressing is pants that are too short. There are certain lengths for capris and flood pants, but the worst thing for your figure is pants that are too short, and cut off the leg. You want to make sure that your pants are long enough to cover most of your shoe. The longer, the... The cut and style you choose for your wedding gown can change how you look on your wedding day and how you look forever in your wedding pictures. Do you know which shape you are? Apple? Hourglass? Pear? Rectangular? For example: If you are an apple shape, you have no waist and flat hips and bottom. If you buy a wedding gown with a waist and gathered skirt you will create a horizontal line around your middle and pouf in your hip area, which visually adds pounds. Your body shape is flattered by vertical lines, not horizontal lines. Think flatter. If you are an hourglass figure, a sheath style wedding gown is one of the styles you will find very flattering on you. You are curvy. Celebrate it. Look for waist definition. If you are a pear shape, look for a slightly dropped, but defined waist. Your waist is your greatest asset. Show it off. Avoid any horizontal lines at the widest part of your hips. Definitely avoid straight styles that pull at the hip area. Bridal gown skirts with soft flowing fabrics that fall over the hips will flatter you. If you are a rectangular figure, you have fairly balanced body measurements. You don't have much of a waist, so you need to look at wedding gowns that have vertical lines that curve in at the waist. This could be a princess cut, slightly a-lined or it could be a sheath with waist definition without a horizontal waistline. Visit My Designer Gal Store for my Plus Size Bridal Guide. It is the only bridal guide ever written ju...
Welcome to Ebay... the worlds most fascinating online shopping experience. Now that you are here, how do you make the best choices in who to purchase from and get the most value for your money. I have been selling womens clothing and buying a little bit of everything for almost four years and this is my personal guide to assist you in purchasing and completing transactions for the best possible Ebay shopping experience. Are you excited? Let's get started... First and foremost, invest (a couple of dollars at the most) in a measuring tape! Buy the cloth kind (rather than the metal). These are available at any fabric or craft store, as well as any drug store (Longs, Walgreens, etc.) and even most grocery stores. Second, always provide measurements of any garment you are selling in your item description. Why? Because simply saying "Size 20" or "2X" (for example) tells the buyer very little about the actual fit of the item. One manufacturers "Size 20" or "2X" may be another manufacturers "Size 32" or "4X", etc. The size tag often has little to do with whether or not the garment will fit the prospective buyer. I can only speak for myself, but depending on the actual measurments, I can wear anything from a size medium to a size 32W. I have passed many items by on Ebay because the description was vague or incomplete. HOW TO MEASURE For width on tops (and dresses), measure across the bust (underarm to underarm); across the waist area; and if it's a longer top (or a dress), across the hips. If it's a stretchy fabric, make sure to say so. Mention any vents (side, back) it has and how long they are. If you flat measure across the front of the garment, and it comes out to be 22" (for example), make sure you state that it would be 44" around. For length on tops and dresses, measure down from the shoulder seam to the hem. Measure the sleeve length from the shoulder seam down the outside of the sleeve to the edge of the hem or cuff. For width on skirts, measure across at the waist. If it's an elastic or oth... Is it really true that the right shapewear can all but eliminate most worries about belly buge or muffin top? Hmmm. Lets think about this...the only serious fashion crime is a lovely outfit that just doesn't fit! Face it, you've had a kid or just don't have time to spend three hours a day at the gym! What can you do? I often wear two pair of control top panty hose to flatten my OH SO poochy tummy. Most runway as well as catalogue models also do this. Never mind that I am about to pass out! Seriously, I swear by Burlington control top and support hose. They totally take care of what mother nature failed to complete. And, they are super affordable! If you?re really serious about tummy control, check out a product called SPANX. They are carried in better department stores and are even sold here on eBay. SPANX are rather expensive (about $20 bucks a pop) and DON'T seem to stand the test of time, BUT man do they do the job! You can lose serious inches in one fitting. They have a no-slip waist band which fits snuggly underneath your boobies and makes you look absolutely great in your clothes. But they tend to cause a high line around your bra. Also, LIPO IN A BOX has incredible shrinkage and is super tight. You can count on losing up to 2 inches in every area. BUT...it costs about $84. As for clothes that really enhance and slim your waist, try the new wrap dress and skirt styles. They may look daunting, but the style actually helps hide your stomach and makes you appear slimmer. Another type of style to help with tummies is the front-tied sarong style. This is the perfect camouflage. And don?t be afraid to play with hemlines. The shorter hemlines can actually make your legs look sleeker and can help you achieve that "leggy" look, often distracting from a bigger tummy. Need to slim that waist or even create one? Add an "A-line" ... Tag size varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Always find out the measurements for the item you are buying. Just because something has the same tag "you think you wear" doesn't mean it's gonna fit ya. A medium in one brand is going to be a totally different from in another brand - Depending on price, brand and country of origin these tag sizes will vary widely... For all garments, including men's women's' and chalderns clothing we recommend you take a garment that fits perfectly, lay it flat and take tape measure or ruler and get the inches: armpit to armpit, length AND shoulder to shoulder, inseam whatever. Then compare it with what you are bidding on. If the seller has not included a measurement you need, EMAIL them. It will insure you get a good fit and save you hassles in exchanges, feedback and so forth. Especially if getting something to small depresses you: remember the cheaper the garment, the smaller the size, and vice versa (high costs usually mean more money for fabric). Also: Juniors, plus sizes, misses and petite will all be marked with tag sizes, but the actual garments will be very different. To avoid problems, make sure you know what you are bidding on.
