Fake TOMMY BAHAMA

Show Guide...

Welcome, Tommy Bahama Enthusiasts

Everyone who either sells or buys Tommy Bahama is buying into a total lifestyle and not just a line of clothing. We appreciate the fine quality of the Tommy Bahama merchandise. What we don't need is to be worried about questions of our shirt's authenticity or whether it will fall apart in the wash.

Don't get ripped off by horrible Tommy Bahama FAKES out there! Do your research, and purchase the REAL deal!

Answers to some Common Questions:

How can I tell if an item is a fake prior to purchase?
There are several things you should look for prior to purchase to ensure that the Tommy Bahama item you are about to bid on is probably authentic.

  •  Be sure that you are buying from a reputable Tommy Bahama Seller.. In addition, check a seller's feed back rating and actually read some of the comments. Make sure that they have long and positive feedback.
  • Make sure the style item that you are considering bidding on is a legitimate Tommy Bahama style. For example - Tommy Bahama NEVER made a Harley Davidson Shirt!!! The silk prints are not authentic Tommy Bahama prints. There ARE hundreds of fake embroidered shirts that are copies of actual TB shirts.
  •   Ask questions before you bid -  Be sure to ask, what the style name and number are?  Ask, What does Tommy Bahama call this color?  Ask, If the seller obtained their Tommy Bahama items directly from China OR from a Flea Market?  Ask,  Do...

    (Continued)

-the fake one is too too yellow

-the fake one is too bold while the real one is much lighter and the colors are well balanced.

-you cant really see but the fake one has a baby milo tag on it when its not a baby milo hoody

-There is way too much pink in the fake one

-The fake camo prints are smaller than the real ones

-On this camo, there shouldnt be a "BAPE" sign on this version.

Also you can tell by the stitching ands knitting done in the real one, look closely and you will see that the knitting is done from the neck and diagonally to the armpits. But know that this doesnt apply to some other hoodies with not as much design all over the hoody like the shark and chomper jackets.

How to spot fake bape bathing ape!!!! Part 1

    Show Guide...

Here is a guide on how to spot fake bapes

There are size limits in bapes. Bapes size limit is up to XXXL, no higher than that. 4X is very rare, so u might want to watch out. Also sizes over XL are suppose to be rare, so you should be careful when buying over XL. Also People might fool you with a real bag, but might have the fake hoody in it.

THE PICTURES OF BAPE CLOTHING MARKED "REAL" ARE ACTUALLY TAKEN FROM REAL JAPANESE RETAIL BAPE STORES.

i have to say, spotting the tags are pretty important here.

Also another thing you should spot is with the Bape hoodies with diamonds. look carefully and you will see the difference. take a close look at how the diamonds are placed the real bapes have the diamonds "on" the letter. The fake ones have it "around" the letters. Also the quality of the material of the real Bapes do make a difference. The designs look more clean and clear and, while the fakes ones look slightly faded or a little lighter than the real ones. So take a close look at the diamonds.

Also take a look at the bags. The fake one has more yellow and orange than the real one

Here are some comparisons of fake and real ones. Look at the quality of the material and the color and the way both are made, it is very noticeable.

For many men, the body of a dress shirt is considerably wider than their actual body sillhouette. Nothing looks worse than a well-dressed man with a messy-looking shirt tucking -- bunched up in the back and uneven. There are steps to correctly tucking a shirt tail just as there are steps to making a correct Windsor knot in a tie.

Start with trousers open and unzipped, slid down to the hips, with legs spread apart to keep them up. Button shirt in the front, all the way down, then smooth the excess fabric to the back sides amd grasp it on either side, making a pleat, as in Picture #1.

Spotting Fake Multicolor Big Pony Polo Shirts

    Show Guide...

I have an authentic Polo multicolor big pony polo shirt that I purchased from polo.com. I have seen many fakes on ebay! Here is my advice on spotting fakes, as compared to my authentic multicolor Polo:

    • These shirts are a limited edition, one time production that can only be purchased at polo.com and Ralph Lauren stores for $114 (including shipping and taxes). It is not logical that someone would spend that amount of money per shirt and then re-sell it on ebay at a loss.
    • The multicolor polos are available in the following colors only: French Navy blue, Northwest Pine green, White, Polo Black, RL 2000 red, and Newport Navy blue. Any other color is a fake.
    • The number on the sleeve is always "4", not 3, 5, or 6, as I have seen on some ebay fakes. The number should be red or white only... with the exception of the RL 2000 red, which has a blue number 4.
    • The most obvious way to spot a fake multicolor is by looking at the two side "vent hems" at the bottom hem of the shirt - The authentic ones are ALWAYS reinforced with a contrasting colored grosgrain ribbon. I have yet to see this detail on the fakes. (View the pictures at polo.com to see the vents to which I refer.)
    • The polo pony in the pictures of the fakes also seems to be too light in color and the pony's eye seems to be much more round and open than on the authentic ones.
    • UPDATE: A friend bought a fake multicolor big pony Polo on eBay because he didn't want to pay the price Ralph Lauren charges. The fabric o...

HOW TO SPOT A FAKE NAT NAST CAMP SHIRT

      Show Guide...

I am a lover of Nat Nast products, especially their silk camp shirts.  The quality cannot be beat.  I love the relaxed style, vivid colors and creative embroidery.

Since many sellers list Nat Nast products on ebay, I wanted to let you how to spot a "true" Nat Nast silk camp shirt.  I do not work for Nat Nast and I am not an expert.  The following is my opinion from years of experience selling Nat Nast on ebay.

The buttons will be engraved with "Nat Nast Luxury Originals."

The label sewn into the shirt will also have "Nat Nast ® Luxury Originals Since 1946.  Make sure their logo - the lion wearing a crown is there too.

The embroidered Lion Logo can also be found at the front hem.

Inside the shirt you will find a white rectangle tag. This is sewn into the side seam.  I noticed that the older shirts do not have color name listed.

Whenever you purchase anything on ebay, make sure you are buying from a reputable seller. Check out their feedback. If you feel the item you purchased is a fake, contact ebay's safe harbor.

      BUYER BEWARE...!! FAKE ABERCROMBIE!!!

      Show Guide...

FEEDBACK, FEEDBACK, FEEDBACK! Look at the feedback! Look for auctions pertaining specifically to Abercrombie items if the seller sells multiple items. I would generally say if they have one negative feedback complaining about it fake, there's a good chance. If there's a few, they're almost definatley fakes.

NEW EBAYER WITH LOTS OF MERCHANSIDE? Chances are if someone lists a lot of Abercrombie items at the same time and have no feedback, its fake. There are legitimate sources in the US to buy authentic Abercrombie, but to order from these you typically need to have a registered business, buy in large bulk etc. You should be skeptical about an eBayer with lots of things for sale and relatively new to eBay.

PRICING! Let me clear something up that I think the other guides missed. If the 'Buy It Now' prices are "too good to be true" it's probably a fake. If they start there auction between .99 and 9.99 that doesn't necessarily mean it's fake! A good eBayer knows what their auction will go for and therefore doesn't need reserves, 'Buy It Now's' etc.

TAGS! Most fakes will have for example 'Mens M' on the price tag whereas authentic Abercrombie states 'Mens Medium'- otherwise the tags were identical. While this can seem insignificant it's small differences like these than you can sometimes tell you if it's fake or not for certain.

FINAL PRODUCT! Did you see it in the store? Does it look like the picture? Is the quality off or is something else just not quite right? It's probably a fake! There is no shame in taking a purchased Abercrombie item to the store to verify if it is infact authentic or not!

      Beware of Fake Versace China

      Show Guide...

Just wanted all the potential buyers of the Versace china that in one day alone I managed to find four so called reputable sellers who led me to believe that they were selling Authentic Rosenthal Versace Medusa service for 8 (between 50 and 60 pieces) Meanwhile after working for a Rosenthal retailer as well as collecting for years I could tell just by looking closely at the pattern they are not real and the 4 stores who claim to only sell the best were fakes.

My research started with contacting each seller and explaining that I live near their location and would like to take advantage of this almost to good to be true deal, but I wanted to pick it up instead of having it shipped. No one would allow it. Instead I was told every excuse imaginable and put off with the these so called store owners who claim to "only sell the best" that they will call me to discuss it, yet no one ever called me.

I contacted one so called "very high end" store in Beverly Hills and asked why her pattern was slightly different than the high priced ones that are listed on the Rosenthal website. The dinner plate was red, not black. She suddenly wrote me back and explained that "Someone just purchased the set" and she has no more available. Funny enough within 1 hour she had a new identical 45 piece Red Medusa set for sale with a "buy it now" for $495. When I confronted her she said "Oh that person backed out" So I relisted it. All in 60 minutes time.

Next I had another so called Ebay store owner e-mail me and ask if I would be willing to take a service for 12 instead ot the set he had which I had enquired about. When I asked if I could pick it up, he said "Ill call you" but he never did. Only now when I e-mailed him telling him I was on to his scam and his 72 piece is fake, he wrote back and explained h...

      Buyers:

This tutorial is for a Paypal Item Dispute filed by the buyer.  eBay disputes and Credit Card chargebacks are not the same. Also, Paypal Unauthorized Transaction Disputes are an entirely different matter.  The majority of this guide will be about Item Not As Described since that requires the most explanation.

First, make sure that you have given the seller ample time to contact you before filing a dispute.  If you cannot contact them by e-mail, use EBay?s contact information page to try calling the seller to explain the problem.  However, don?t wait to long.  In most cases you have a 45 day period in which you can file a dispute.  Also make sure your dispute is valid.  Just because the jeans you purchased don?t fit you doesn?t mean you should file a Paypal dispute saying they are fake.&l...

      Vintage T-Shirts 101: A Buyer's Guide

      Show Guide...

If you?re looking for a specific and genuine vintage shirt, you probably aren?t going to luck out at your local thrift store. Take my word for it ? I was just there and grabbed all the good stuff. Besides, eBay makes it so much easier to get exactly the shirt you want immediately. So now that you're serious about finding that authentic New Kids on the Block tee you've always wanted (seriously?), we've compiled an informative little lesson to help you along the way.

Use the search bar to find your item and go with the most basic search terms possible, such as "vintage New Kids shirt." If that initial search brings in too many results, you can narrow your focus by adding words like ?NKOTB,? ?concert,? or other related words.

Sometimes shirts are described in different ways. For example, a Led Zeppelin shirt could be listed as "vintage Zeppelin jersey" and wouldn't appear in your search results if you entered "vintage Zeppelin shirt " Go ahead ? click on each of those links and you'll see how they fetch different results. Remember that varying your search by leaving out the word ?Led? may also increase your hits. Make sure to mix up your search terms as much as possible and be creative to broaden your search outcome.

Fake Fox Racing Items on eBay, learn how not to be tricked!

We've seen it several times, these fake items are selling for more then the real deal. You're excited so you bid, pay, and then it arrives. You realize it's a fake! (A really bad one too). An uprise in Fake Hats on ebay made me want to write this, because last week this happened to one of my customers and I felt really bad. They accidentally purchased one of these, before they realized it was fake. There are a few sellers selling these and they are coming in a variety of colors. ALL FAKE THOUGH, FOX NEVER CAME OUT WITH THIS STYLE. The seller could at least try to take off the Fake Tag, LOL!

FAKE ABERCROMBIE Beware! Men's polo shirts fakes

      Show Guide...

Most seller's of Abercrombie Men's shirts are genuine and real.

But there are tell tale signs of fakes....

      1. Ones that sell in mass quantity of the same identical shirts or just mass amount of shirt period. They sell for prices in the $8-15 range. There has been couple sellers selling like over 100 shirts at once. Many copy or imitation shirts are coming from overseas, like hong kong which is a neighboring country to china where a huge flow of imitations are coming through..Believe me, I went there and saw it with my own eyes.

Its unbelievable how buyers would rather pay $3-4 less for a  fake and on top of that wait at least a longer week because they are coming from overseas. I wish I can educate more buyers but the only way I can gain exposure are readers like you clicking the YES button below to gain more popularity in search ranking.

      2. Check too see that the buttons are nice and thick and engraved with the moose insignia or AF. Back of the button should a be pearl white color as the front is ivory color.

(Does not always apply to older generation shirts or women's shirts)

      3. The slot where the button goes through should be nicely woven exposing good amount of thread.

3.Overall feel of the shirt should feel nice and think not thin and see through. The collars should feel thick and tightly woven. Not thin and flimsy.

      4. Check the label, the letters should be very slightly raised and embossed.

      5. Check to see the label is stitched on top of a fabric so that there is a piece of fabric between the shirt and the label.

(May not always apply to older generation shirts.)

      6. The double layer neck tape fabric should be nicely sewn onto the collar and nice and thick. I see...

Fake DG sunglasses being sold as D&G (Dolce & Gabbana)

      Show Guide...

I recently bid and won a pair of "Dolce and Gabbana" sunglasses for $41. The seller had a picture of the glasses in a Dolce and Gabbana case. They explained that the case would "not be included as I need them for my other glasses"

There was an entire paragraph devoted to telling about Dolce and Gabbana designers and sunglasses.

Then the glasses were described as being "exactly as pictured" and referred to as "DG". At first I thought this was a typo as Dolce and Gabbana is "D & G" NOT "DG". DG is a generic off brand (think "Dollar General") sold for about $5 a pair in discount stores and for 99 cents a pair on ebay!

It wasn't a typo. And, upon looking more carefully at the picture I realized that the glasses were "DG" NOT "D & G".

I checked on the seller and found that they were listed as a "buyer" (feedback) for the (checked the item number) Dolce and Gabbana case which they were using in the picture.

Other items they've sold. "DG" (fraudulantly advertised as "Dolce and Gabbana") glasses all prominently displayed in the same Dolce and Gabbana case. All with the same note that the case is not included as the seller needs it for their "other glasses".

On one buy they bought a different Dolce and Gabbana case (light colored) with cleaning cloth, etc. I found this advertised as Dolce and Gabbana (already sold, checked feedback) with a pair of (close check of picture) sunglasses with a "DG" NOT "D & G"tag!

Be warned. Several buyers have fallen for this and bought "DG" glasses as Dolce and Gabbana at prices from $20 - $60.

Please check the pictures carefully. Do NOT buy if the side of the glasses or the tag reads &...

A BATHING APE ADIDAS SUPERSTAR AUTHENTICITY CHECK

These past few years A Bathing Ape, an upcoming street fashion label has grown past the limits. Offering a very rare and desirable collection for the rich and famous. Everything from tshirts, jeans and jackets to thier famous Bapesta's. One of thier rarest projects was between Adidas, The very rare collections consisted of 3 pairs of shoes, all 3 where collaborations between A Bathing Ape and Adidas. In my opinion the most sought after pair, and the pair that has the most non-authentic replicas behind are the camoflauge super ape stars, This pair was limited to 500 pairs worldwide and sold out in minutes from the Busy Work Shops. Some of the fakes floating around ebay seem and look very convincing, they like the authentics have a box, packing paper, and all the laces at times, and both the key chain and factory tag. The easiest way to spot a fake is by the size, the Bathing ape adidas only come in US half sizes or UK whole sizes, for example US9.5 will be UK9. If you spot a US9/UK9.5, its a fake. Other ways to spot fakes are more complicated but can be easily spotted if you are aware of what to look for, this list will give you a better understanding.

      1) The Ape keychain is on the LEFT shoe, attached with nylon fishing line.
      2) There are only 2 pairs of laces, and usually with the white monogram one laced on the shoe.
      3) The tongue has a slight variation in color, whether it be the leather tone or the print tone.Fakes usually have blue ape-head print instead of black.
      4) The heel tab is overly large.
      5) The paper wrapper is printed on glossy paper, the box camo print is not as clear.

      Vintage T-Shirts 102: The Brands

      Show Guide...

As outlined in our Vintage T-Shirts 101 guide, the single best way to determine if a shirt is truly vintage is by checking its label. Since most of these vintage lines are no longer in production or have updated their branding, inspecting a vintage shirt tag can tell you a lot about an item?s authenticity and the era in which it was produced.

      The 1970s

Identifying a vintage shirt from the 1970s is quite simple. At that time, companies that were producing shirts for screen printing hadn't started branding themselves yet. Many of these labels will appear fairly generic and not have any obvious link to a specific company. It wasn?t until the late ?70s that the big T-shirt players and stronger branding images started to emerge.

      The 1980s

In the ?80s, names such as Screen Stars, Hanes and S...

Guide to T-shirts on Ebay: Transfers Vs. Screenprinting

      Show Guide...

This guide goes by the old standard "Buyer Beware".

I have some expierience with t-shirts and printing t-shirts over the past few years. One thing that I have noticed is that "transfers" are becoming more and more popular to sellers. They are easy to make, and look nice at first... but like I said buyer beware. here are some things to note.

Transfers are basicly an "iron-on". Mostly printed from a computer printer and then a heat press is used to apply the print to the shirt. This is how someone can easily get a full color image or a photographic image on a shirt. While they will look nice at first, they will begin to fade much faster then a screen printed shirt. With a screen printed shirt you get a better quality print and a longer lasting print over time.

Now how can you tell the difference while you are shopping? The biggest giveaway is when someone will give you the option of what size you want it in within one auction. They will say something along the lines of "After you buy the shirt, you pick the size you want". This is because all they are doing is picking a blank shirt from thier inventory and heat pressing the image you want to the shirt. They will also typicaly list the "sizes available" and have it available in more then one color or on more then one item (ie: T-shirt, Sweatshirt, Jacket, Hat, etc).

When it is a screen printed shirt the size will already be listed in the auction since the person has to print the shirts in advance. When in doubt just ask the questions. Is it a screen printed shirt? or a transfer? Some of you might say that this really isn't that big of a deal, but it can be. You can see an obvious difference between the two styles of printing.
