Reviews & GuidesFAKE North Face ProductsFAKE The North Face Products How do you really know if the item you are bidding on is the real deal? Beware, there are tons of fake North Face products out there. And I'm not talking about just ebay. Because North Face makes such great products dishonest people will copy them. Having been in the outdoor industry for over 10 years I have learned a few things. Here's a quick rundown. Some of the fake North Face products are actually made in the same factories as the real stuff. Like most companies, The North Face contracts with production facilities to make their products. North Face designs their products and has control over the production. However the people making them actually work for the factory, not North Face. This means that non-North Face companies have North Face designs. Here's an example: The North Face has an order for 1000 jackets. So the factory has their employees work the day shift to make the jackets. And a fine job they do. Unfortunatly, a dishonest factory manager can have the night shift, unsupervised by The North Face representative, make the exact same jacket. Only now they are using inferior materials. They can look the same. They have the same patterns. They can do all the embroidery. They even print authentic tags, including the Gore-Tex and Polarguard tags. It is the same jacket with bad fabrics. It can be hard to tell the real from the fake. That is until you take it skiing. Your so called Gore-Tex jacket is wet in a few runs. Or that super breathable jacket is muggy. Why? Inferior materials. Another way fakes come to market is by production factories not even related to North Face making the products. These are the ones that look fake. What they do is take a jacket and then do their best to make one that looks the same. These are much easier to spot. The design is not the same. Either way you are not get... Canada Goose: Fake or Real?Canada Goose fakes are big business. Don't get ripped off! If you?re reading this guide, you already know that Canada Goose makes the finest cold-weather gear on earth. But you may not know that, as popular as Canada Goose parkas are in Canada and the colder bits of the U.S., they?re extremely expensive status symbols in Europe. This means that there is serious money in counterfeit Canada Goose parkas. A lot of shady characters, always ready to make a buck, have picked up on this. Unfortunately, there are lots of fake Canada Goose parkas and jackets around, especially on eBay. This guide will alert you to some of the more obvious scams and fakes. Rule #1) If the seller is in China, Hong Kong or Thailand, it is a fake. Period. Canada Goose has no dealers in China, Hong Kong or Thailand. Each of these places do, however, have a huge clothing industry that can make you a Canada Goose parka, an Armani suit or a Louis Vuitton handbag during your lunch hour. If you buy a Canada Goose parka on eBay from a seller in Asia, you will get a fake parka. Buying a Canada Goose parka from seller in another country -- even Canada -- is no guarantee that you?ll get a genuine Canada Goose. The people selling these fakes aren?t stupid so many have figured out that people are suspicious of parkas being sold from Asian countries. To put you off your guard, many counterfeiters will use an account that makes it appear that the seller is in some other country, often the U.S., Canada or the United Kingdom. The parka is then shipped to you directly from Asia. Some of the more enterprising actually ship their fake parkas to third countries and sell them from there. Rule #2) If the seller says something like "other sizes and colors available," it is probably a fake. HOW TO SPOT A FAKE THE NORTH FACE JACKET Hello all E-bay friends. Several people including myself have purchased a fake The North Face Jacket off of E-bay! I have found a few guidelines to help you tell the difference. 1. The fake jacket only comes with one tag attached. It is a red tag and has The North Face written on it and also a price. The real jacket tag comes with 2 to 3 tags! Make sure that the tag reads north face denali jacket instead of Five Boroughs jacket etc... E-bay sellers of fake North Face Jackets are stealing the tags from real jackets that don't match and attaching them to thier fake one's! 3. Look at the inside stitching of the jacket. The real North Face Jacket has no skips in stitching just smooth zig zag stitching! The real jacket also has no threads hanging that have been cutt due to the machine skipping! The seams of the inside (under the arms)of a real north face jacket are basted together with one complete stick instead of several off line stitches. A real Jacket is made with great guality all seams are faced perfectly. 4. The fleece on the Real North Face Jacket is fuzzy like fleece would be. The fake fleece has a slick feel to it and is almost smooth. The smooth stuff is not water proof anf will not keep you warm! 5. Sometimes the Fake jacket has a very heavy odor due to the fake fleece it is made out of. 6. Ask the seller if it is real or fake! If real they respond, if fake they ignore you! They are paying $10.00 at the Chinese market for these and then selling them for $100.00 plus dollars! 7. Look at what other items the seller is selling! Most of the fake ones are for sale along side of fake football jersey's, purses and other items that you fe... For anyone who is not an experienced buyer or knowlegeable about furs, this should be your first concern when bidding on a fur garment. With the advances in textiles and improvements in synthetic materials, spotting an artificial fur can be difficult. Ideally, you be able to rely on the integrity of the Seller. Your preference should always be for a seller who'll allow you to return an item that was misrepresented. But often on eBay, you'll find the Seller knows as little or less about furs than the Buyer. Luckily, even if both parties are total novices, there are some easy ways to determine a real fur from a fake or faux fur. This guide will give you clear and precise instructions on how to check a garment and find out if it's genuine or fake fur. Good for you! But where do you start? Launching out into the world of two wheels can be intimidating for a girl new to the sport. If approached correctly however it can be one of the most rewarding and interesting things you ever do. The sport of motorcycling has always been thrilling, but for many decades it seemed reserved for ruffian outlaws or teenagers with a death wish. Things have changed. The modern motorcyclist now is often a professional, with a family even. Many women riders are emerging and even women rider coaches. The diversity of rider groups range from The Christian Motorcyclists Association to rogue outlaw groups. There are a plethora of special interest groups, like BACA, which stands for Bikers Against Child Abuse. The modern female motorcyclist is rarely the hard looking, chain smoking, black leather garbed example we all think of. Now, the female motorcyclist may be the cute little college student riding to her classes to save money on gas. It may be the junior high teacher who wants to be able to actually smell the wildflowers on her way home from work. Motorcycling has changed. But what hasn't changed is the fact that motorcycles still pose a higher element of risk than a car. It's a fact. In a battle for right of way between a car and a motorcycle, the car will always win. So what can you do to minimize your risk, maximize your fun and be a good rider? Take a Class: The Basic Rider Class is offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Let me give you some background on me. When I was 19 I first decided I wanted a bike. I was a poor college kid so I bought a $400 ... I am writing as the fall is approaching for those who are looking to buy vintage furs in the upcoming season. A great option for those of us who love vintage style (or perhaps are uneasy about buying a new fur, when the old ones already exist and hence no "new" animals(who, in this day and age may be subject to cruel treatment and painful deaths) will be used for them) vintage furs are a great, usually less expensive option. The only problem with them is that in order to buy with confidence, you MUST ask the seller questions about its condition. I have been browsing vintage furs on ebay, and am amazed by how many coats and jackets are listed in excellent condition or good condition, but for a little rip or tear that sellers claim will be "easily fixed". The problem with this claim is that once the coat or jacket or wrap has a rip in the seam, it means that the fur pelts have not been properly stored and have dried out. You can repair the rip in the seam in one place, only to have another seam rip shortly thereafter. The fur on a coat is sewn into somewhat thin pellet strips, and the seams come apart when brittle from lack of moisture and age. Therefore, when a seam on one side rips, the next is sure to follow. I learned this the hard way by hiring someone to refurbish a vintage sheared mink that I owned. It was not even a week after one seam was reapired that another would rip even with my careful attention to not move quickly in it so as to stretch the pelts. Got $50 grand to spare and don?t mind breaking the law? Those could be the consequences of trading in endangered species furs. Suppose you have a genuine leopard skin or ocelot fur coat and want to sell it. You list the coat on eBay with no restrictions and it sells to someone across the country. Not only does that auction violate eBay?s policies, but if the item is shipped to another state or overseas, you?ve also just broken State and Federal laws. The Endangered Species Act of 1973 outlaws trade of any product coming from an endangered animal and the penalty can be up to $50,000 per incidence. Although common in earlier decades, fur garments from leopard, ocelot, margay and most cat species are now banned. Virtually every species of bear are endangered as well as many types of seal and otter. Furs from these animals and more were once widely available, but are now outlawed or tightly controlled. Sellers and buyers must proceed carefully to ensure they are acting within the law. Everyone knows that the tiger & cheetah are endangered, but were you aware that the bobcat & Canadian lynx are threatened in most states? Whales & sea turtles are listed, but did you know that taking certain sea shells or digging up cactus plants could be a crime? This illustrates a point: the Endangered Species Act list is lengthy & complex, containing about 2000 species of mammals, birds, fish, crustaceans, insects and plants. It?s frequently updated with animals being added or changed in status. So unless you?re posi... Okay, this will be short and sweet but quite to the point. Actually, it started out short and sweet, but whatever. There is nothing more annoying than people who desperately claim that their scarf is authentic in their auction but never reply when you ask them if they completely guarantee their Burberry scarf should you happen to take it into a Burberry retailer! NO REPLY...EVER. It is like they think if they just don't answer, then I won't be able to still see their auction! Idiots. Well, from the mouths of Burberry and those of us who own a GENUINE, FROM THE BURBERRY STORE CASHMERE SCARF and not a poly/wool blend that some still have the nerve to claim as authentic...here is the scoop. Being that I am a pink Burberry fan, this is how you spot a fake, or replica. In the Cashmere Muffler, the baby blue lines ONLY run vertically, so if you are looking at your scarf, they run in the same direction the fringe hangs. The blue lines do NOT run in BOTH directions. The blue line is also more of a soft, light turquoise-y blue and NOT the bright sky blue often seen on the fakes. In the Cashmere Happy Scarf, the blue lines ONLY run horizontally, which on that scarf is the same direction the fringe hangs as it runs up both sides of the scarf. The blue lines do NOT run in BOTH directions. The deeper color that runs through is supposed to be a soft brown...NOT a mauve as seen on the fakes. In the checkwork part of the design, the authentic Burberry has DEFINITE creamy white rows, but in the fakes, only the center blocks are white. Now chec... What Size Chaps Will Fit Me? IF THIS GUIDE IS HELPFUL TO YOU, PLEASE CLICK ONTO THE YES BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. THANKS! There are pages and pages of fake Columbia items that keep making their way to Ebay. There are many legitimate Columbia sellers, that have 1000's of positive feedbacks. If I were a buyer, that's who I'd buy from. Beware of the international sellers that are having their items shipped directly to you from China. Authentic Columbia merchandise must be purchased from an authorized dealer, it cannot be purchased directly from the factory. Even authorized dealers must purchase their goods directly from Columbia. Here are some things to look for, when making your purchase: 1) There must be a Columbia tag in the lower left inside of the jacket, that shows the model number of the coat. It could start with an F or S and could say S04, S05, S06, F04, F05, F06..etc, then there are 4 numbers that follow. The 4 numbers that follow that, are the actual model number. 2) On mens coats, the fake coats typically have the zipper, zipping up the wrong side, like it was a ladies coat. 3) If the price looks too good to be true, it probably is. Honest sellers that are selling authentic Columbia Sportswear merchandise, cannot afford to give the items away. High quality merchandise, such as Columbia, is expensive, even at our cost. NWsalesconnection Ebay store 4) Does the seller list the model name of the jacket? It seems that most of the fake items being listed, have no model name, no color name, etc. They are simply being listed as "new Columbia jacket". If the seller doesn't list the model or color name, email them for more information. Ask them for the model name, Columbia color name, and the mod... Finding an authentic The North Face item on ebay is getting harder these days. We have one of the few stores along with some others that sell only 100% authentic items. The items I would watch for are jackets that include a fleece liner, almost 99% of them on ebay are fakes. Be careful buying from overseas, and ask them for the CA and RN numbers on the jacket. This guide is to aid in the finding of 100% authentic The North Face merchandise. Please use this only as a guide, and feel free to ask any questions you might have, and browse our store and others who sell Quality The North Face items, and remember the higher the feedback the more likely it is authentic. Things to watch for: Sellers from China and other foreign country's (most are selling fakes, i have not seen an authentic piece come from a seller in china yet) The price - if it seems to good to be true it more than likely is (for example a BIN of 39.99 on a 300.00 jacket, come on now) Sellers that do not offer paypal (this is the safest form of payment) The inside of the jacket (mountain guides do not look cheap, and 99% of them on ebay are fake) they do not come with a liner, they have to be purchased seperately. Please email us if you would like to confirm an authentic item, whether it is from us or not. I have other information about buying and selecting a fur coat in my store. The Clothing Seller?s Guide to Fabric Patterns and Prints - The Menswear Patterns Don?t know your houndstooth from your herringbone? Your tartan from your toile? Your paisley from your plaid? This series of guides will help eBay sellers (and buyers) to identify all of the various fabric prints with descriptions and sample photographs. The name comes from that fact that the pattern resembles the jagged back teeth of a dog. It is sometimes also referred to as four-and-four check. CHECK OUT MY STORE FOR THE RIGHT GEAR DRESS IN LAYERS Breathable Layer: This is the layer that comes in contact with the skin. It should allow body moisture to escape and evaporate more quickly, which keeps the skin dry and comfortable. Use thermal underwear made of synthetic fibers like polyester and polypropylene to wick moisture away from the skin. Avoid natural fibers such as cotton, they tend to hold moisture close to the skin and dry very slowly. Insulating Layer: The insulating layer creates dead air space between the layers of clothing, trapping warm body air and keeping it around the body. Look for outerwear that is warm, water-resistant and well insulated with a synthetic fiber such as Thinsulate?? Insulation. Outer Shell: This layer protects against wind and rain. This is probably the most important layer. Outerwear How can you spot a fake? I have found that its pretty hard to tell over the web, but here's a few pointers I have picked up . 1. Don't go by feedback alone. Many people are in a hurry to give positive feedback because the fakes can look pretty good. Once left, it cannot be changed. Then two weeks later, seams pop, your zipper breaks, or you spot your coat in the store and its not the same....not remotely. 2. Avoid sellers with multiples of the same jacket and style. 3. Avoid sellers with a low score. . What the distict possibility is, in instances like this, is that the seller frequently changes names to avoid problems and identification. 4. Email the seller. Ask the question. Are your items authentic? Yes or No? If I send it to the manufacturer for authentication, will it pass the test? If it doesn't, will you promise to take the item back, including shipping? (actually, if you get documentation, paypal will make them take it back, but who needs the hassle.) I have done this and gotten a range of answers. Some say "Yes and please feel free to authenticate my items, I encourage it. Another said to me..."I honestly dont know, they tell me that they are real when I buy them." Another said to me..."please do not bid on my item". Ok, huge red flags there. I think you can easily tell who has the goods. 5. If you have any doubt, whatsoever, about the authenticity of your product, send it to the manufacturer. The North Face will gladly, at no ... I just wanted to share my experience purchasing an Abercrombie Adirondack Jacket. I recently purchased this jacket from a reputable seller. The jacket was new with tags attached and was made in India. With what I'd been able to find out I was sure that I was making a good purchase. When the jacket got here it didn't fit right and it zipped up the wrong side. We were going to the mall that day so we took the jacket with us. To my surprise the jacket was a FAKE and a good one at that. Abercrombie confirmed that there are many of these jackets floating around. It looked just like the ones in the store. They even did up the tag the same, but they scanned it and it came up invalid merchandise. Anyway, now we have a fake Abercrombie jacket that doesn't fit. I informed the seller of this incident and I got no response (wasn't surprised). Just a warning, be so careful what you buy. |
