Spotting fake Juicy Couture handbags - part two

Show Guide...

Welcome to part two of my Juicy guide!

Here are the rest of my tips to avoid fake Juicy Couture handbags on ebay:

8) Know your bags! I've seen fake styles advertised on ebay that haven't even been made by Juicy - ever. This happens even more frequently with clothing than it does with bags, but I've definitely seen it in both. If you are interested in buying a particular bag (this is easier with the new styles), find one that is authentic (at a Nordstrom's or a Saks or wherever) and look at the bag. Check the proportions, which pockets the bag has, the color of its hardware (Juicy gold hardware tends to be a bit brushed, while fake hardware is generally more shiny), whether or not it has metal feet, whether or not it comes with a fob, etc. Some bags have different pockets inside (i.e. the Getaway tote has a small pull-out 'Shop!' bag instead of a built-in pocket) and some do not come with fobs (like the Glamour Flap bag). Some sellers do sell bags from sample sales, which have not been produced and may not ever be released. I have two bags like this myself, and they are authentic, but they are few and far between. A tip for those looking to buy an authentic Baby Fluff bag - the small hook catch on the inside used to hold the bag bunched in the center should have a heart on it - it's not a plain clasp.

9) Generally, if you're trying to avoid a fake, the easiest bags to shop for are the newest ones (although they're also the most expensive). It takes counterfeiters a while to come up with, manufacture, and distribute fake bags. Once the fakes begin to flood the market, it's a bit more difficult. If you scan listings frequently, you'll begin to notice when fake models of certain bags come out, so you'll know to be on the lookout. However, a large propo...

How to Spot Fake Juicy Couture Carriers, Bags, Sellers

Show Guide...

Ebay is known for its cheap imitations and fake bags so here is my guide on how spot fake Juicy Couture Bags & Carriers, what to look for when you're purchasing a Juicy Couture Bag, and information on buying from legitimate sellers.

The website TECHTRADERS.CA is known for selling fake Juicy Couture so be careful of ordering bags that look like these! Below is a picture of of their Fake 2006 Velour Backpack, Hobo, and Daydreamer with Pom Poms.

And Below are the Authentic bags. Notice the difference in the Pom Poms, they should be fuzzy and multi colored. Also notice how sloppy the stitching is on the front and the little X stitches which the authentics do not have. Their Fake Daydreamer is the worste as the daydreamer looks nothing like this and none of the new 2006 Fall Pom Pom Bags have that type of Juicy logo. Instead all The new daydreamers have Juicy Royal on the front with Pom Poms on the side.

It is unfortunate that there are people that justify selling Fake or Replica Juicy Couture velour, fleece and terry sets, dresses and T-Shirts on Ebay. I have been selling Juicy Couture on Ebay for several years and have developed a very reputable reputation accross the continents. The most asked question that I get as a seller of Juicy Couture: Is this 100% Authentic Juicy Couture? I am hoping that I can help answer that question and offer some helpful tips to buyers.

    Replica Sellers:
If the item is located in China - More than likely it is a replica - Rule of thumb - Do Not Buy from China (or Asia)

If the seller shows sets in plastic / poly bags WITH A JUICY LOGO - More then likely it is a replica. I have seen and purchased authentic Juicy in bags, but they do not have any LOGO's on them. Just a white sticker whith the color, size and barcode.

Read the acutions very carefully, some sellers actually use the word Replica or mi-spelled Courture  hidden in their description to cover themselves.

Fake Pink Pony, polo, or ralph lauren

    Show Guide...

Ok First off I am a consumer like you , not an expert so I just am passing along info I have figured out because I have real pink pony from ralph lauren, and I bought a fake from a schister on ebay and I noted the following differences....  Be aware of sellers with big lots these could be fake from china etc.  If you are buying a sweatshirt ask the seller if the zipper puller says polo engraved in the puller. It will also have a pink tab puller. If is does not it is counterfit. The other way to tell is if the tags on the inside sewn in are wrinkled and look like they were just sewn in after manufacture. The tags, could in addition have frays and crooked stitch. This is a tall tale sign that these are fakes. Lastly ask to see a close up of the pink pony design. If you see any fading or not clear crisp design this is also fake. There are a lot of counterfiters out there was one that sold one to me and I got my money back because I prooved that it was FAKE to the seller. Don't take this lying down. You can report all counterfiters to the security center. Take action on these people and get them booted off of EBAY. The powers that be at ebay strictly go off consumer complaints,  they have no way check quality or authenticy of merchandise. If you don't do anything it will continue.....

    Shop With Confidence!

Buying clothes online should not be intimidating even though you are not able to try the item on before you buy.. Shopping for clothes online can really can be lots of fun and rewarding. When armed with the right information, you can then sit back and have a lot of great shopping for cute, fun, trendy and even unique plus-size clothing that you might not be able to find in your home town... Lets Go Shopping!

Tag Sizes Vary With Every Brand and Manufacturer!

Let's talk a little about tag sizes -. Never go by the tag size only (unless you are very familiar with the brand and already know what tag size you wear in that brand). The tag size really is just that.. a tag size as provided by the manufacturer which represents the size for that particular cut and brand primarily as a means of identification.   As you know.. every brand is cut differently and varies even by the same manufacturer.

The measurements on each tag will vary greatly with every brand and with that in mind.. it is always best to use measurements as your guide, not the tag size.  As you probably already know.. you might be a size 1X in one brand and a 3X in another. Unfortunately, it is a fact that in the plus-size fashion industry there are no standard measurements for tag sizes, so they will all vary greatly and it can become very confusing. My little guide will help eliminate the frustration  and...

Spotting FAKE BEBE clothing - TRY THIS!

    Show Guide...

I recently purchased an outfit on ebay that was declared "authentic" by the seller. I purchase a lot of BEBE and BEBE SPORT items at the stores and online. I was looking for a white bebe sweatsuit, and ran across a few on ebay, for what I thought were starteling prices. When I received the sweatsuit, I was startled alright, and horrified at the twisted attempt this seller made when he tried to duplicate bebe! I tried to attach a photo, but was not able to make it work. However, the seller apijann is still selling these items to unsuspecting victims...hopefully something will be done about that. This item did NOT have the original tags inside the top or bottom as the auction promised, however, it did have a very FAKE bebe logo sewn in, in black and silver, even using the same font that bebe uses on their clothing line. The best way to spot a fake that tries this hard is to really look at the quality of the tag, and the size tag placement. Also bebe always puts a reference number under their tags, and anything authentic will have the black bebe label inside telling your where it was made and what it is made of. Do not let these scam artists con you, or scare you into keeping an item that you know is not authentic. Send it back, get ALL of your money back, and report them.

Spotting Fake Multicolor Big Pony Polo Shirts

    Show Guide...

I have an authentic Polo multicolor big pony polo shirt that I purchased from polo.com. I have seen many fakes on ebay! Here is my advice on spotting fakes, as compared to my authentic multicolor Polo:

    • These shirts are a limited edition, one time production that can only be purchased at polo.com and Ralph Lauren stores for $114 (including shipping and taxes). It is not logical that someone would spend that amount of money per shirt and then re-sell it on ebay at a loss.
    • The multicolor polos are available in the following colors only: French Navy blue, Northwest Pine green, White, Polo Black, RL 2000 red, and Newport Navy blue. Any other color is a fake.
    • The number on the sleeve is always "4", not 3, 5, or 6, as I have seen on some ebay fakes. The number should be red or white only... with the exception of the RL 2000 red, which has a blue number 4.
    • The most obvious way to spot a fake multicolor is by looking at the two side "vent hems" at the bottom hem of the shirt - The authentic ones are ALWAYS reinforced with a contrasting colored grosgrain ribbon. I have yet to see this detail on the fakes. (View the pictures at polo.com to see the vents to which I refer.)
    • The polo pony in the pictures of the fakes also seems to be too light in color and the pony's eye seems to be much more round and open than on the authentic ones.
    • UPDATE: A friend bought a fake multicolor big pony Polo on eBay because he didn't want to pay the price Ralph Lauren charges. The fabric o...

Fake Juicy Couture Pet Carrier, Handbags, Sellers

      Show Guide...

There are many imitations of all kinds on eBay.  In order to help all bidders to determine for themselves which is authentic, here is my guide on how spot fake Juicy Couture Bags & Carriers, what to look for when you're purchasing a Juicy Couture Bag, and information on buying from legitimate sellers.

FAKE SERIAL NUMBER---  All Juicy Couture handbags have a style number inside the pink tag, some people called it serial number. Before, the counterfeits did not have that style/serial number inside the pink tag. But unfortunately we found out the counterfeits now come with the style/serial number too. So how can we tell if the bag is authentic since the counterfeits now have the serial/style number too? Counterfeits usually have a small /tiny white sticker (serial number) inside the tag. The real serial/style number is not a small/tiny white sticker. What is the real style/serial number look like? I can't list everything, because juicy uses different serial/style number sticker for every season's product and every design. For example-Some of last year's leather bags have 2 sticker inside the pink tag, this year's leather bag only have one sticker and the sticker is bigger. Some of last year's bags come with clear serial/style number sticker, this year's products have white serial/style number sticker.
Another very important thing to remember: I have seen some seller say "all of our juicy items have their VERY OWN serial number inside the pink tag." This information is TOTALLY WRONG. Juicy Couture bag does not have their very own serial/style number inside the tag. The serial/style number is NOT unique. I will not list any more detail or photos...

Spotting Fake Juicy Couture Part 1--Labels

      Show Guide...

If this guide is helpful to you PLEASE click YES at the bottom. It will encourage me to continue writing these for you! Thank you!!

I have received hundreds of emails about eBayers' frustrations with buying Juicy Couture on eBay. People are getting scammed every day by sellers promising "100% authentic Juicy Couture" bags, sweats and accessories, yet delivering fake, poorly made copies. Although eBay is swarming with obvious fakes, Juicy Couture has yet to crack down on the sellers of these counterfeit J"eeewww"cy knock-offs. In this guide (the first of several), I will attempt to help buyers identify fakes BEFORE they waste their time and money. I will then create a list of sellers that I have found to ONLY sell authentic Juicy Couture--if you wish to be on this list, please contact me for approval.

      1. It's All About the Label:
                         a. Cut vs. Uncut: Many sellers purchase their Juicy from Sample Sales and department store ?seconds? like Off 5th (Saks 5th), Last Chance or The Rack (Nordstroms), and Last Call (Neiman Marcus). In order to prevent full sale retail returns, these stores identify the discounted items, by cutting the labels, marking through the logo with a permanent marker, punching a metal rivet through a discreet part or writing a series of numbers inside a pocket of a bag. If a seller says ?the way you can tell my item is authentic is because the tags are cut? this may not be true! How difficult is it to cut a tag?

St. John Lingo and Labels, Part II

      Show Guide...

The labels and tags on the St. John knit garments can tell you a lot about the age of the garment.  Here is an example of the label commonly used for current garments which are a part of the St. John Collection (for other St. John labels, see my first guide).

This label became commonly used in the mid-90s, along with a similar label in black with white letters.

      Previously used labels include:

The first three of these labels were used at various times in the 80's and early 90's.  The fourth label, is Marie St. John's signature, and it pre-dates her use of her married name, Marie Gray, so this label is older yet. Also, there was used a label with just "SJK" on it:

which was used before the first three above.

Finally, the first label used by Marie St. John is this one, in use in the 60s and early 70s.  Some St. John fans like collecting these garments.

So, by looking at the label, inself, you might get some idea as to date it was made.

For garments which are "NWT" you might also tell how recent the garment is.  This is the paper tag now used since 2005:

~How to tell a FAKE *Primp* Thermal from an authentic~

      Show Guide...

Sadly, there are tons of fake *Primp* thermal tops on ebay. The sellers of these shirts are in the USA and overseas (they are everywhere). There are several ways you can prevent getting tricked into buying a fake *Primp* thermal top. #1 If they have a picture lifted off of another website showing what the shirt supposedly looks like or the only picture they have is a picture of a celebrity wearing the shirt - but they do not have an actual photo of the shirt up close and far away that they made themselves with their own camera of the exact item you are bidding on/buying then do not believe it to be authentic and DO NOT BID, PLEASE!!!  #2 If the thermal top is made of a ribbed material and not the waffle weave stretchy material that most typical thermal shirts are made from then it is NOT authentic no matter what the seller says. #3 If the sellers tell you that "these tops run small/slim" then it is not authentic because I have bought many *Primp* items from high end retail stores which carry the real thing for a fact because they are the only authorized retailers of *Primp* items and they run large, not small typically. The authentic thermals DO run LARGE. Fake thermals run very small, almost ridiculously small, such as a large fits like a small and a medium fits like an x-small. #4 If it has a black and white tag hanging from the shirt that says *P*R*I*M*P* or something similar it is FAKE. *Primp* does not pre-tag their items whatsoever! #5 If you are looking for a pony thermal they do not come in the color pink or any variation of any color other than brown / coffee/ cream. I am a lover of Nat Nast products, especially their silk camp shirts.  The quality cannot be beat.  I love the relaxed style, vivid colors and creative embroidery.

Since many sellers list Nat Nast products on ebay, I wanted to let you how to spot a "true" Nat Nast silk camp shirt.  I do not work for Nat Nast and I am not an expert.  The following is my opinion from years of experience selling Nat Nast on ebay.

The buttons will be engraved with "Nat Nast Luxury Originals."

The label sewn into the shirt will also have "Nat Nast ® Luxury Originals Since 1946.  Make sure their logo - the lion wearing a crown is there too.

The embroidered Lion Logo can also be found at the front hem.

Inside the shirt you will find a white rectangle tag. This is sewn into the side seam.  I noticed that the older shirts do not have color name listed.

Whenever you purchase anything on ebay, make sure you are buying from a reputable seller. Check out their feedback. If you feel the item you purchased is a fake, contact ebay's safe harbor.

Juicy Couture Authenticity/Fake guide for clothing!

      Show Guide...

Juicy Couture is one of the most popular brand names today. Therefore, there are a TON of fakes floating around ebay. However, if you know what to look for in authentic JUICY, your search for authentic items on ebay will be much easier! Know the difference between authentic JUICY and replicas (fakes)!

First off, know that the inside tags on JUICY clothing are color coded according to the size. The following are the sizes and appropriate color of the inside tag:

      (P) Petite- hot pink

      (S) Small- orange

      (M) Medium- khaki (tan)

      (L) Large- light green

      (XL) Extra Large- light blue

PLEASE NOTE that as of recently, all new Juicy is being made with light pink tags. I will add pictures and more details about this when I get the chance to do so.

There are a couple of different inside tags that you may come across. The older JUICY inside tags should have a "TM" on them and should say "P&G". JUICY then became registered so the "TM" changed to "R". Recently, JUICY changed their "P&G" logo to "G&P", so don't be alarmed if all your JUICY tags don't look the same in those aspects!

Counterfeiters haven't perfected the inside tag of JUICY clothing. On fakes that I have seen, the font is sometimes off or off center. The dogs usually aren't the right sizes, etc. Here are some pictures of authentic and fake JUICY inside tags:

In the above pictures, note the difference between the authentic and fake size small tags....

Authentic Juicy Couture Tags, Labels Compare to fakes

      Show Guide...

      hello all,

I am back with my second installment on Fake Juicy Couture and other designer items.

I have been receiving many emails regarding , how to spot a fake JC hoodie and/or track suit,

tee shirts, pet carriers, charms, bobbles and more.

I will include the information i have on the Authentic tags and labels and what the labels should actually look like.

All tags/labels located on the interior of JC clothing is color coordinated with sizing.

All the Pink tags inside bags, carriers, etc. have a small white sticker with black numbers on it, this is located on the inside of the PINK label. Ask your seller to see pics of that. Fake bags will NOT have that sticker.

Also, remember what i stated in my first review and guide, the JC logo has changed from

Love P&G to Love G&P, due to legalities with Proctor and Gamble.

So, if you come across a new  item with the new logo, it is not fake, as i stated before, i doubt

Hong Kong has figured that out yet, lets hope they don't!

Here is a list of the tags and colors:

      *X-Small Petite - Pink
      *Small - Orange
      *Medium - Beige
      *Large - Green
      *X-Large - Light Blue

*Juicy Couture Jeans have brown, blue or beige/tan tags

**I will list more  about the tags on dresses, skirts, Intimates and more in the coming weeks.

I will add some pics of  actual  Authentic tags and more... that will make it easier to spot. I only have some sizes available to me in clothing, as i wear 2 sizes, large and the extra large. i can check with my friends and see if they will let me take pics ...

How to spot fake bebes in a second?

      Show Guide...

How to spot fake bebes in a second?

Many of my dearest buyers have asked me how to distinguish authentic bebe and fake bebe items on ebay. Well, from my past over three years experience of dealing with bebe, I have now decided to make some tips for you to easily spot fakes in a second. Here we go~

      1. Sizes

Bebe has NEVER produced any items with sz Large or above; for pants, the biggest sz is 12 (or 31 by waist). Have seen sz XL, XXL, or even XXXL? All fakes!

      2. Colors

The colors of bebe logo shirts change every season. For example, the current pink shade shirt is called "petunia", the older one from last season is called "pointsettia". They are NOT just all "baby pink" or "dark pink." Have seen those pinky pink shirts all year around? Again, fakes! However, the ONLY exceptions are classic white and black colors. Not sure how to tell if they are real? Check out the third step.

      3. SKU/Style number

Have you ever noticed those little numbers on an authentic bebe shirt tag? They are not just random numbers. They are like our driver license with all the information coded, such as color, sz, etc. The Style number is a 12-digit code which always appears as the first line on tag. Bought a shirt on ebay that looks authentic, but not really sure? Bring the tag and the shirt to any bebe local stores to have a check. Does the description of the shirt match with the shirt in your hand? If not, OH fakes.

      4. Material/Fabric

Bebe is known for its quality. All of their items are made of the finest fabric and have been cut to enhance your body lines. Have seen sequins that easily fall off, shirts are too thin or can be easily ripped off? Maybe it?s time to have a check...

      5. Overstocked items

      Bebe does NOT offer wholes...

St John Knit Colors - How To Coordinate and Care

      Show Guide...

We get quite a bit of inquiries as to "What is the official St John's color" for some of our listings. If we don't have the original tag and unless it's black, sometimes it's very hard to respond. We wrote this guide in hope that it will help our clients find what they need to coordinate their ensembles.

St John's yarn is custom made in batches or dye lot per season. All the yarn in one dye lot will be the exact same color. Colors from different dye lots may look the same in certain lights and VERY different under other lights or in daylight.

St John has season and group assigned to each dye lot. For example, FA03GR6 represents Fall of 2003 and Group 6. If attached, this information can be found with the "Professionally Dry Clean Only" tag. An experienced shopper will inquire specifically what season and group when trying to coordinate.

Coordinating by name alone may not produce a perfect matching suit. A St John's "Sapphire Blue" jacket in Spring 2001 won't necessarily match perfectly to a "Sapphire Blue" skirt of Winter 2002.

Even St John basic navies will vary. As a matter of fact, the only color that is guaranteed to match at all times is black. St John has black trim on so many pieces making it so easy to coordinate.

When maintaining the integrity of your own suits, take into consideration of what we call the 'cleaning factor'. Overtime, dry cleaning will...

Diane Von Furstenberg - How To Buy Authentics on eBay

      Show Guide...

Many buyers have asked here at Studio_Blu about buying authentic Diane Von Furstenberg (DVF) dresses. We thought we would provide some helpful guidelines for purchasing authentic items.

First, please ignore the DVF dresses listed next to this guide that are listed as from other sellers (below items from our store). Most of these are $49.99 fakes we have no control over what eBay places alongside this guide and are in no way affiliated with them. ----------------------->

There are different Diane Von Furstenberg lines. The most sought after is Diane Von Furstenberg.  There is also a lesser quality discount line Silk Assets (sold on HSN).  The Vintage line contains her classic dresses in classic Diane Von Furstenberg patterns.  This is not the same as a vintage Diane Von Furstenberg. Vintage refers to the date of the item, the Vintage line is new items in a vintage style, pattern.

When purchasing new Diane Von Furstenberg, try to purchase items that have the tags attached. While there are pre-owned items, that could very well be authentic, the risk is much higher for bootlegs when there are no tags. Unfortunately, eBay is flooded with fake Diane Von Furstenbergs.

Diane Von Furstenberg tags will be sewn in on clothing items.  The tag will be attached at the top back of the neck, will be sewn at both ends and will have the size/ fabric content tag attached to the bottom center of  the Diane Von Furstenberg tag.  Pay careful attention to the stitching.
