Reviews & GuidesSelling Child Clothing + Child Predators~Wake UP Call!!Child-Predators are out there. Bottom-line. The internet is a fishing tank for these people. If you list your child's photo online while selling clothing or just as part of your profile- READ THIS. There is good money in Selling childrens' clothing. If you put effort into your auctions - you will nearly always make A LOT more money per item on Ebay than you would ever at a Yard Sale or selling to a consigment shop. And as fast as kids grow out of clothing, all the more you need to buy up! But parents of children, toddlers and infants NEED to know how to SAFELY sell clothing on Ebay to protect your children. I am so guilty of using my kids' photos... the ad's look better, there isn't any better way to display clothing (well, short of a mannequin). You can use those adorable pictures ... sure... but you have to do so with your eyes open. The following was a warning I recieved from a sheriff acquaintance and it is all too serious to not pass along: You wouldn't put a $20 bill on the ground and walk away thinking it would be there when you come back. You don't go in at night with your keys still in your car or your purse in plain sight. Why would you be just as careless with something that is priceles... Gymboree listing/selling tipsNever make the mistake of buying "NO NAME" clothes for your children again! Shop your way to debt free! When I began my ebay journey nearly 10 years ago, I never dreamed it would one day play a huge hand in helping my family get out of debt. Many people have asked me how I can dress my kids, furnish my home, and shop all the time without having debt today...and the answer is simple! Learn what to buy that will resell well so that you can make enough profit on ebay to pay for all the items you "want" for your own family. Three years ago when we started the process of getting out of debt, we started selling anything and everything in our home that wasn't nailed down to start paying off those high interest credit cards. This also created the desire for me to continue buying to resell so that I could add to our family's income. Here are some great tips that can help you wipe out that debt for good: 1. KNOW WHAT TO BUY. Don't think that because you are in debt, you should only buy Target clothing for your kids. If you become an avid shopper, you can follow sales trends and pick up Baby Gap and Gymboree at cheaper prices than Target and Walmart clothing. These nicer brands resell much better and if you truly watch the bargains, you can dress your children for free by selling their last season items and using that money to purchase for the upcoming season. I also buy ahead for future seasons. It is pretty easy to figure out what size your children will be and if you watch the end of season sales, you can pick up entire wardrobes for 70-90% off. I already have my childrens' entire fall 2006 wardrobe packed up. Most people will never know you are dressing your children in last season's items. In terms of other items, the more knowledge you have about items, the better informed financial decisions you will make. I buy many household items at thrift sales and garage sales....it does take a little more time than walking into a traditional retail store but I gaurantee the savings are worth... Listing Gymboree on Ebay! This is a great resource for listing Gymbore brand clothing on Ebay. Great for SAHM's and working moms alike. Line Id's to make the bidder recognize your item quicker and templates to make them stand out more. I own Gymbohaven.com its a great FREE site for Gymboree line id's - moms love to know what line the items come from and search ebay by line name, so make sure you have the line name in the title of your auction!! We also work with Mpire.com and Sellersourcebook.com. Mpire.com is great from finding the right time to list, the right price and how to list the items. Sellersourcebook has tons of matching Gymboree templates to make your auctions stand out and look fantastic! Also Gymboreenews.com is a great place to find out what's selling at the moment and they do wonderful newsletters to keep you up to date. With all this at your finger tips your can't go wrong selling your Gymboree items on Ebay!! Good luck! Amy Owner of Gymbohaven.com Buying Children's European and Boutique brands clothingSome Ebay sellers ( myself included) specialize in European and/or Boutique brands clothes for the little ones. You can find a great selection of brands and most of the time the prices are way better that what you would pay at your local boutique IF you are lucky enough to find the item. Many European brands are hard to find and veeery expensive. You will get exclusive items and great quality. When buying European clothes on Ebay you can search with the name brand, but many sellers use the words EURO/EUROPEAN in their tittles instead of the brand. We also use the word BOUTIQUE in our tittles for easy search. However there are a small number of sellers that use the word Boutique to attract those buyes to their listing even though the item is not Boutique. If you are not sure if the brand is Boutique ask all questions prior to bidding and do some research. The following is a shoe and clothes size conversion chart that most ebayers use. Please keep in mind that some brands run smaller or larger than the average. Gymboree Re-sale GuideBuying and selling my childrens clothes on eBay saves me a fortune! Girls Gymboree clothes are truely the best as far as I am concerned. They retain their value, provided you care for them properly and buy matching outfits & accessories. Selling the clothes as an outfit will usually fetch more money than selling all of your size 2T stuff in one big lot. Gymboree has a name for every line of clothing they sell. If you know what the name of the line is, you will get much more for your money. You can find current lines on their website: www.gymboree.com sign up for their emails...they send great coupons and have great specials like Gymbucks and Friends and Family. Gymbucks can really save you a ton. If you buy your clothes new from Gymboree...make sure it is Gymbucks time and that you buy as much as you can for the next year so it will all be on sale anyways! I have also found a website that can help identify prior lines all the way back to 2000! It has been extremely helpful to me: www.gymbohaven.com and I think the person who runs it also sells on eBay. When buying used Gymboree clothes on eBay you can tell the year the clothes were produced just by looking at the tag if visible in the pictures...the old tags have a big green & orange lower case G (prior to 2001), then they switched to a white tag with "gymboree" in pink(2001-2004) and now the tag is a peachy colored tag with white letters(2004-now). Lots of old lines coordinate with current lines, too. I buy a lot of clothes that can mix easily with older lines. For example: Some items from the Tropical paridise line from last summer had a lot of oranges and reds which matches nicely with the La Playa line from 2 years prior. or Dandelion Wishes and Sporting Green...basically the same color palette. Good Luck! Clothing Tricks and Helpers! When selling clothing....always have the clothes Clean..yeah, i know, sounds pretty silly to have to say it, but you'd be surprised...Point out ANY rips, tear, or stains...if you don't, it will come around and bite you in the end. Be TOTALLY honest..you'll be surprised how many more people will bid when they know you are being honest! NEVER put clothing on the floor when you take your pictures, if you can help it..i recently bought a manequin for around $10 and it boosted my clothing sales A LOT...people want to see what the clothes will look like on a person..not flat on the floor...(took me aobut 2 years to finally break down and believe it..but it's true!) Watch your size of the lots...if they are too big, shipping prices will steer bidders away! Try to use FLAT rate boxes from USPS.COM as much as possible...for LARGE lots of clothes...keep them priced low if the shipping is high..you HAVE to take into consideration that they buyer will bid less if he has to pay HIGH shipping.... I like to keep shipping below $25 if having a Big lot for sale...I also group all the name brands together, then sell them AFTER i have sold a BIG lot of Non-name brand clothes...it seems to always work out better that way..not sure why. Good luck! Happy eBaying! Buying NWT Gymboree Clothing for Bargain HuntersThis guide is for bargain hunters who are looking for new Gymboree clothing for their children, and possibly resale. On Ebay you will find many wholesale lots that sell for about 40 percent of the retail price or 60 percent off retail. If you shop the actual stores and on-line site for Gymboree you can get much better deals! Educate yourself on FAKE OILILY -- stay away from it!! As a die-hard Oilily addict and a powerseller, I have taken personal offense to the counterfeit Oilily pieces on Ebay currently. Genuine Oilily quality is uncontested....each piece is fabulously designed and created, a true piece of art. Unfortunately scam artists selling rip-off Oilily made in China (no trademark laws there, just like fake LV or Fendi bags, etc.) have popped up on Ebay the last year or so and it does nothing but hurt buyers and other sellers trying to pass on the real deal. The fakes are a poorly made, poorly fitting, and sometimes flat out ugly versions of the real thing. A description that states "factory extra from China" or "overstock from Asian market" is more than likely fraudulent. There are slight differences in the hang tags as well.......I've noticed a weird stamp on the red tags for fakes...... it's a sticker for the real deal. The cardstock is thinner, and feels of a lesser quality than real Oilily hangtags. The newer season has green tags now, and authentic items will always be attached with a green satin ribbon. The fakes are attached by a regular plastic tag. Also alternate sizing has been noted. Oilily sizes are: 56, 62, 68, 74, 80, 86, 92, 98, 104, 110 (euro), 116, 122 (euro), 128, 134 (euro), 140, 146 (euro), 152, and 176 for childrens. Most fakes have the equivalent sizing, but there are counterfeit items sized 95 or 101, and that's a dead giveaway. Ask the seller to send you pics of the seams, details, tags and hangtags if you are wondering about the authenticity of their item. If they are honest, they'll probably do it. Look for slightly different coloring (it's a good thing to compare it to other items listed) and poor seamwork. Also ask where it was made, since the majority of Oilily it... Gymboree: Original or OutletThe idea for this guide is how to distinguish between Gymboree original lines and Gymboree Outlet reproduction lines. Gymboree has a new clothing line that comes out about every three weeks in its stores and on its website. There are also outlet stores across the country that originally sold Gymboree items that didn't sell in the regular stores. About September, 2005 Gymboree re-stocked the outlet stores with old lines that were re-issued. What that means is that Gymboree looks at previous lines and recreates them just for the outlets. These are brand new items not old merchandise. Some of the first lines to be re-issued were Sweet Cupcake, Puppy Love and Snow Angels. Some of the pieces were exactly the same; while others were different color schemes. The outlet lines come out once a month; usually the last week of the month. Sometimes there will be two lines with about 1/2 of the original items; sometimes lines will be combined. For example: in the outlets now are Tyrolean Lure with a sprinkle of Sugar n' Spice. Some of the Sugar n' Spice colors have been changed to reflect the Tyrolean Lure colors. Both lines originally were mix and matchable; this time it is more pinks, browns & greens. Another difference between original Gymboree items and outlet items is the tag. Original Gymboree items have a white tag with pink lettering or a newer red tag. Outlet items have a white tag with an orangish-yellow print and dots. The reproduction lines are about 20% less at the outlet stores than the originals in the Gymboree stores. When buying items on eBay, usually the seller will tell you if it is original Gymboree or outlet. Sometimes you can tell by the line. For example: the Puppy Love line originally was in pinks and browns. The outlet reproduction of the line is in blues and browns. If you are not sure, don&... Oilily Alternatives: All the Style, at a Lower PriceDutch boutique brand Oilily is known for its vibrant, colorful, and witty prints, and imaginative designs - the company is always unique and distinctive. Unfortunately, Oilily can also be expensive, even when buying it gently used on ebay. I have assembled a list of quality brands that remind me of Oilily in some way, that can often be found at more reasonable prices. BEETLEJUICE, a European company, uses lots of embroidered detail and unusual appliques to create a distinctive look with Euro flair. CLAYEUX, from France, is best known for its stunning sweaters and knitwear. The company employs considerable savoir-faire in its choices of yarns and patterns. KABOO is a Canadian brand, fairly new, made by effigi, that mixes colorful patterns, as Oilily does. Lots of ruffly skirts. Also makes rainwear with fun prints. ROOM 7 (or search for ROOM SEVEN) was founded by the daughter of the founder of Oilily. The company features whimsical designs in its clothing, bedding, and playwear. TICKETTYBOO - It's no suprise this brand is reminiscent of Oilily - its owner was the lead designer with Oilily for for six years! This English brand is fun to wear! ZAZA COUTURE takes fun textures and unique designs and uses them together for bold boutique fashion for children. This Dallas, Texas company uses European fabrics in its designs, which are both stylish and wearable. ZYNO, an American boutique brand (and a favorite of mine), features vibrant prints and Euro details on its outfits and dresses. It also owns da-di-da, which has a more delicate look. Finally, don't overlook better-known b... Childrens Boutique Designers Groups on eBayWhat you should know about Boutique Childrens Designers on eBay As a designer and seamstress of childrens boutique wear it has come to my attention that many buyers are unaware of the Boutique Community on eBay which is centered around childrens fashion. For any lover of quality handmade items this community offers unique and one-of-a-kind fashions and accessories for children at often affordable prices. Using Gymbucks to Buy Gymboree AffordablySo we all love the store! We all know it's one of the top brands for children to sell (and resell) on ebay. But ever wonder how sellers can afford to sell their clothes for so much cheaper, when the retail value of their prices are so high to begin with? Just like real estate's slogan is 'location, location, location.' I'm here to tell you that one of many ebay sellers' secrets lie in Gymbucks, Gymbucks, Gymbucks! GYMBUCKS ISSUANCE & REDEEMPTION. What is this, you may ask? For all who don't know, or who may be new to Gymboree, (aside from sales) GYMBUCKS ARE GOLD to making your shopping experience affordable through the year. Technically, as stated by Gymboree: You earn $25 off of your next $50 purchase during redeemption period, when you spend $50 during an issuance period! Now what to do with your gymbucks once you've earned them?! Spend them, of course, but on what?!Here's what I would do: #1. Buy sale items while earning your gymbucks. And then, when redeemption time comes... BUY MORE SELL ITEMS! I cannot stress enough how much you can save by doing this. Think about it. Just for example, if you were to buy about (5-6) sell items at $9.99 or less to EARN a gymbuck, then come back and buy about (5-6) sell items at $9.99 or less to REDEEM your gymbuck you have about 10-12 items that you only paid $75 for altogether. So techincally, if we do the math you spent less than $8 for each item. On average, you can pay about $26 an item, full-price at any Gymboree. Multiply $26 by 10 or 12, and you'll have a savings of $185-$240 off retail prices. That... **Secrets to get GYMBOREE clothing @ wholesale prices**First things first, Gymboree does NOT have a wholesale distribution center to sell lots of their clothing to the public. They also do not accept tax id numbers. That being said, everyone that sells Gymboree obtains their clothing one of several ways. Here are the most common ways you can purchase Gymboree clothing for resale: Gymboree is constantly adding new lines to their collections and so they mark down the older lines to make more room! So you are going to be on the look-out for the older lines when they go to really good prices (a price you feel comfortable paying based on the fact you are going to resale and need to make a profit yourself). You can check out my other guides as I have information in them about price guidelines for purchasing clothing for resale. In addition to the sale price, Gymboree often has coupons out or a special sale on top of the sale!!!!! They also have their famous GYMBUCKS!!! These sales and Gymbucks are when you can really get the good prices!!! If you get a Gymboree Visa you can get an extra 5% off your purchase every time you use the card! This adds up quickly and they do a double discount sometimes so you get even more savings!!! There are many wholesale lots available on ebay for you to purchase. You can find many different size lots available so you can purchase one in the price range you feel comfortable with!! I sell many different size lots on ebay and am willing to work with you to come up with a size that you want. POINTER: Stay away from double bid listings if you are purchasing for resale. Double the bid lots are more for people purchasing fo... HOW TO PAY YOUR RENT & MORE SELLING CHILDREN'S CLOTHES!I say earn because anyone who sells on Ebay knows the income does not just roll in. In this guide I will share experiences and knowledge I wish someone would have shared with me before I began selling here on Ebay! Ways to save you time and money so you can do what I do: stay home with my children, enjoying their childhood while paying my rent on Ebay! I will share in just one short month I paid my rent selling NAME BRAND children's clothing here on ebay. I began by buying on Ebay. I bought a few Christmas presents, then a few toys, then my college textbooks. I saved tons of money by visiting the marketplace here instead of the malls! But I always wondered how people did it? How do you sell more than what is around your house? I researched. I found I could sell my textbooks right back on half.com and make my book money back without even paying to list them! I was scared to jump into ebay because I thought I needed more experience in selling things or managing a business. I was very wrong. Turns out all you need is patience and positivity! And good communication skills wouldn't hurt! I sell CHILDREN'S CLOTHING LOTS and PARTY GOODS! I started by selling my own children' s used clothes and then branched out to NEW CLOTHING! FIRST -You must figure out what you want to sell. Is there a market for it on ebay? Does this item seem to have continuos profit potential? SECOND -Do I have the product? How will I obtain this product/service for potential customers? How much will it cost me versus how much it will cost on ebay? See if others are selling the same product already. What seperates your items from the ones already sellin... Be very CAREFUL when listing items to avoid add. feesI've recently noticed that Ebay has added a "feature" to the listing so that they can make evem MORE $$$:o) When I list I get into a mode and I just click submit especially when I'm listing duplicates and using the "sell similar" option. I was noticing that the "Gallery picture" was AUTOMATICALLY coming up even though I didn't choose a Gallery Picture option. I had submitted 9-10 before I realized it. Now .01 may not seem like a lot but I have 2000+ listings and that .01 adds an extra $20+ to my already, very high fees. I really feel that this a sneaky tactic to make them more money at the expense of a seller and it really stinks. Thought that I would share it with people and warn to be careful when listing that no boxes (that you didn't check) are checked. Handmade children's clothing & accessories - how to buy
There are many advantages to buying handmade clothing over ready-made. First is the "uniqueness factor". Most likely the outfit you purchase will be one of a kind and stand out from what other children are wearing. Next is the quality. Most sellers use high quality fabric and trims and sew with the utmost care. Seams are carefully finished and beautifully stitched. Often, you can have the outfit custom tailored to your child's measurements. Sometimes you can even decide where a ruffle goes or ask to lengthen or shorten a pair of pants. With all these advantages (and there are many more including resale value, helping stay at home moms, etc) it is not a dvisable to just start buying. There are important things you should know before purchasing your first (or 100th) outfit. Ebay has a "Handmade" category. You will find it under Clothing and Accessories: Infant and Toddlers and Girls or Boys. It makes it a lot easier to search out handmade clothing. However since it is a new category alot of designers are still sticking with the old clothing categories. Until the new category catches on you can still find most items by searching "Boutique". This will bring up a lot of things that are not handmade. On the left of your screen is a menu of items, click the appropriate Clothing... Gymboree Buying and Selling Scoop for Moms!
Buying Gymboree on eBay
The purpose of this guide is to share with others tips on buying Gymboree items on eBay. I have been buying and selling Gymboree items for almost two years. I have a daughter who wears Gymboree and I think it is a great brand of clothing. I hope you enjoy my guide! Gymboree has a new line of clothing about every three weeks. There is usually a new boys line and girls line. Gymboree also carries an infant line but does not come out every three weeks. Girls lines tend to be more popular than boys. Each new line has a name (Tutti Fruity, Freshly Picked, Pretty in Plums) and includes mix n' match items and accessories. My daughter has two types of Gymboree: Good Gymboree and Play Gymboree. The Good Gymboree are brand new items that I buy brand new with tags. Play Gymboree are items that are used and she wears them every day for play or preschool. I found out quickly when I sent her to preschool that kids sometimes get very messy at school. Fingerpaint doesn't always come out even though it is washable. When searching on eBay, I look for new and used items. The new items are usually listed in the titles as NEW or NWT. Used items may have USED, EUC or LN (like new). It is very important when looking for used items, that you have an idea of what is acceptable to you. Some prefer no stains at all; while others are fine with some flaws. When I am shopping outside of eBay, sometimes I find an item but need a coordinating piece to make it an outfit. I may find a shirt but need leggings or a jumper and need a shirt or tights. I will purchase it and then look on eBay to see what is available. Many eBay sellers have stores to find the pieces you are looking for. However, you have to watch because sometimes the prices may be inflated. Some reason... HELPFUL GUIDE FOR SELLING CHILDREN'S CLOTHINGStarting a business off the right way can be frustrating for anybody, unless you have someone to do your dirty work for you. But if you are like most people you?re not that lucky. This guide is put together for those individuals like me who could have used this information from the beginning. I remember scouring the internet for information, tutorials, products, services, and anything I could find to help me with my new on-line business. I read so many articles and paid a lot of money for information that was not so helpful. I also made the mistake of purchasing services I didn?t need. Long story short, unlike the other mini guides and information you pay for, I have tried to include a plethora of information, sites, and friendly advice for anyone who might be interested. Happy reading! I think everyone needs a little help now and again, especially when you are just starting out. I definitely would have been happy to read all these guides they have now when I had just started out selling on eBay. I pretty much had to learn everything as I went along. Everything I know now is due to experience. In this guide I am going to tell you some of the things you might have already read in another guide but I will also tell you about some great sites I have found along the way. I do not mean to offend anyone with this guide. I have paid for guides in the past and have found that they should have been free. So, as to not disappoint anyone, this is obviously free. Sorry to those who do have guides they sell. This is not to say you shouldn?t charge for it. I am not the judge of that. I hope everyone can find this useful. If not, then I apologize ahead of time for wasting a good portion of time you would have wasted reading someone else?s boring guide. Just kidding, lol! Okay, getting down to business. I started by selling my daughter?s used clothing. That was the first auction I put up. Howeve... |
