I recently had a buyer claim she did NOT recieve the movies i sent her . This was in retaliation for filing an unpaid items claim on 74 movies she did NOT pay for, which i won. Paypal informed me of the case against me and i responded with what i THOUGHT was very good evidence against her claim. 1. The feedback she left me for all the movies, stating she was very happy with the purchase and had recieved her movies. 2. The copy's of the letters she had sent me on the EBAY site which showed she had recieved the movies and was going to buy many many more. 3. The postage reciept dated the day after her purchase which showed her ZIP code and price of the mailing.These items were purchased by media mail and she did NOT opt for any of the extras (Insurace or Confirmation) 4. The facts that she had recently had Both her accounts SUSPENDED at EBAY and had just recently got them back on somehow. 5. The fact that a yahoo people search on this person showed THREE different places of residence ALL with the same street address but in three different city's BUT all with the same Phone Number. Thinking i had no problem with this claim i was soon to discover how very WRONG i was....!!! Seems like PAYPAL (which is also an EBAY company) has only ONE SIMPLE RULE...!!! 1. Scam Watch - Second Chance SpoofsNo where more than on the internet is the old saying Buyer Beware more fitting. Like any situation, the majority of people online are honest, decent people. But the facelessness of the internet allows the crooks to operate with ease and you need to be on guard for them. Recently, I sold a high priced website called the Resume Builder for over $15,000. . During the bidding process, I had spoken to a potential bidder who was a nice guy and had some questions about the site. The end of the auction came, and the buyer transferred his funds to me via paypal and everything seemed fine. The next morning, I received an email from the fellow I spoke to on the phone asking me why I was offering the site on a second chance offer. Puzzled, I assured him that I was not offering the site, and asked him to forward me the email that he had received. Sure enough, some crooked jack *ss was sending out very official looking second chance offers offering the site for $5600. Could you image somebody sending him $5600 for a site that this guy didn't even own. I quickly sent out notices to my bidders that this was a scam and also contacted the buyer and explained to him that this was a crook. I then notifed ebay of this problem and they confirmed that this was a scam. Banks call this Phishing, which means you attempt to trick a person into providing you information or sending money to what you believe is a legitmate offer. Buyers and sellers need to beware of this technique and use due caution to ensure they are not victomized by these scumbags. The truth behind Mystery boxes, E-Books, 1 cent auctionI would gladly appreciate it if you would click "yes" and say that this guide helped you out. I'm trying to spread the truth behind these scams. Please note that anyone who would claim this isn't helpful makes their money off of scams such as the following. Hello, based upon prior experience with many mystery boxes, e-books, 1 cent auctions, wholesale lists, tarrot card readings, etc. I've found them all to have 1 thing in common: THEY'RE ALL SCAMS. With all of these items, DO NOT BUY, no matter how high the sellers feedback is, I'll explain at the bottom. Mystery Boxes: There are tons of these on eBay, just type in Mystery Box, and you get a wide variety of things that pop up from bubble gum to xbox 360 boxes. With my past experience with these, the box is either completely empty, or it has junk in it, like from a garage sale. Once I opened a mystery box, and I got the rubber of a used car tire. They are all scams no matter how high the persons feedback is. Seriously ask yourself this question, "Why would anybody want to give so much stuff, of so much value, out for so cheap?" The answer is THEY WOULDN'T. If you were selling a mystery box, would you really want to lose money on this transaction? NO WAY. Either would the other mystery box sellers. Just don't waste your time with these, they word them so carefully that they can get away with almost anything. E-Books: First of all, many of you are wondering what an E-Book is in the first place, right? Well an E-Book, is an electronic book, or a word document. Basically anyone can write one of these, even a 1st grader could write one. These are basically a bunch of CRAP. These books can vary on topic depending ... Is It Really A First Edition?For many people, the question of whether a book is a first edition or not is very important. To collectors it makes a big difference, and the value of a book that is a first edition is quite different from that of a later reprint or book club edition. Yet, I see many books sold as first editions that obviously are not. Granted, it can sometimes be difficult to determine the publication status of some books (there are whole books written on the subject), but here are a few things that might help most of the time. Reprint houses like A. L. Burt and Grosset & Dunlap are almost never first editions. In many cases they just copied the originals, sometimes even copying the "First Edition" statement of the original publisher. Grosset & Dunlap printed thousands of books, and apart from some early childrens' series books, are 99.9% reprints. Book Club editions are not first editions, and are not always clearly identified as book club editions. Often they have a small printed or blindstamped device on the back lower corner of the book cover. This can be a small dot, circle, square, or other figure. Book Club books almost never have a price on the dust jacket. So if you pick up a book, open it, and there is no price on the inside dust jacket flap, you can just about bet it is a book club edition. A very current example of this is THE DA VINCI CODE which has been so popular over the last few years, with first editions often selling for as much as $100: The book club edition looks almost exactly the same, is not identified as a book club book, says First Edition, and has a printing line of numbers on the copyright page from 1-10, just like the real first edition, but the book is about an inch smaller in siz... MYSTERY AUCTIONS Are they really a bargain? Ever hear the expression, - "a pig in a poke?". This refers to buying what is ostensibly a pig but it is in a bag and all you can do is wonder if the seller is telling the truth. Same applies to Mystery Auctions. Are you really getting anything of value? Maybe you are only getting dryer lint. Maybe you really will only get an empty box. So many of these auctions state you are "bidding on the box" and they will add a few bonus items to it. The "bidding on a box" is meant to be a disclaimer so you can't file a SNAD - significantly not as described, report with eBay. Mystery auctions can be a lot of fun. It is like the grab bags you see at the bazaars for $1 or for $5. The problem of course is to know if what is in the MYSTERY AUCTION is really worth what you are paying. Check the sellers feedback. Most sellers (such as myself) who run legitimate Mystery auctions, make sure that positive feedback for a mystery auction is noted so you can see that the buyer was happy with what they received. Check the overall feedback of the seller too. Less than 98%? Then do some looking. Find out what those negatives are for. If they are from nonpayers, that certainly doesn't go against the seller. But if they are for mystery auctions where the buyers are unhappy, then I would think twice before clicking and bidding on one of their mystery auctions. It's human nature to be intrigued by the unknown and folks just love surprises. But make sure when... Unfortunately, for most collectors, unless you are willing to settle for just the release of your favorite authors? new books, you are stuck with the secondary market, with all its pitfalls and prevalent fraud. With this in mind, I thought I?d share a few tidbits of information on the subject I have learned along the way. If you want to be certain that your signed book is genuine, you have three options: As the first two of these can be quite expensive, and the third depends upon a trust factor, most collectors pretty much have to rely on their own judgment. Let?s start with a truism that can help you identify the obvious fakes. Being human and subject to human frailties, it is almost impossible for anybody to sign their name exactly the same way, so real signatures will vary from book to book. At a large signing, due to fatigue, a signature at the end may have little in common with one at the beginning. An author?s signature will also change over time, due to age, vanity, expediency, or any number of other factors. Two examples come to mind. Scott Turow?s signature, which was at least partially legible before ?Presumed Innocent? made him famous, has degenerated into a scrawl which has caused more than one dealer to describe it as ?initialed by the author.? At the other end of the spectrum... The Complete J.D Robb Book ListIt?s been a fairly open secret that J.D. Robb is the pseudonym of the more familiar New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts (click here for my Nora Roberts guide). book. Occassionally, a book club edition will be collectible, but
that is usually because of ornate bindings. I have decided to write this guide and many others to help my fellow book collectors or dealers. I collect many types of books and many authors and when I discover a new author that I like I want to own every book that they have written. I have browsed the internet looking for complete lists, but found them either outdated or hard to follow. So here is my attempt to make it easier. This is a list of all of the James Patterson Alex Cross books. I have read them all and enjoyed every single one. Alex Cross is a Washington DC detective with a degree in phsycology. He eventually comes to work for the FBI and he primarily hunts down and usually catches serial killers. All of the books in the series are very fast paced fun reads. Two of his books have been made into movies and they are the first 2 Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls. I liked the movies, but personally fell that Morgan Freeman is too old for the role of Alex Cross Alex Cross Books: Along Came a Spider Kiss the Girls Cat and Mouse Jack and Jill Pop goes the Weasel Roses Are Red Violets Are Blue Four Blind Mice Big Bad Wolf London Bridges Mary Mary Have you ever been looking at a listing and is says the book is remainder marked? To this you are completly baffled wondering what exactly is a remainder mark. Here is quick guide to the explanation and some history of a remainder marks. Remainder marks are generally simple; they often look like random dots or streaks from a black or colored magic marker. Remainder marks vary from the tactful, to the gaudy, to the look of beeing accidental. The purpose of the remainder mark is that when a book store sells a book they mark the bottom or top edges. That way if someone returns the book they will not get full price for it. It's a way of tracking the book once it leaves the store. From a collectors stand point a book that is Remainder marked is not worth as much as a copy that is not. The Remainder mark that is on top edge of a book is worse from the stand point that you can see the mark when shelved. Some publishers do this as well, for example Ace Fantasy uses a capital "B" on one edge. Simon & Schuster, uses its logo "the sowing man". Random House uses the icon of a little house. An older form of the Remainder mark is a purple dye sprayed over the entire top and bottom edge of the book. Giving the book a sort of spray painted look. At one time, this was used by Doubleday, Delacort, and possibly other publishers from the 1980's. Remainder marks vary from each place that uses them, but you can always tell if you know what you are looking for. I have heard many people complain that they cannot sell books. Many of them throw them away. I sell books rather well on eBay. I will tell you why. With the exception of vintage books, the market is typically saturated with almost any book I get my hands on. It is difficult to compete in an over-saturated market. So, in order to combat that, I sell my books as lots. If I have several books by the same author, I will sell them together. If I have several cook books, I sell those as a lot. When I do this, I make sure to include the word "Lot" in my listing's title. Be creative in compiling lots of books. Keep them somewhat categorized. Also, use Media Mail to ship books. Books can be very heavy and Media Mail was designed to combat that. It is considerably cheaper than any other shipping option. And, if your customers are paying less for shipping, they will be more likely to pay more for your books. This isn't full proof but it can help. The first factor that most people look for when choosing a binocular is magnification. However, there is much more to consider in order to make sure that you are getting the right binocular to suit your needs. My Credentials I have personally examined thousands of binoculars. I have used many different types of binoculars, spotting scopes, shooting scopes and telescopes. I owned a camera store and in my lifetime I must have sold over ten thousand pairs of binoculars. I have studied binoculars and all types of optics and I have bolstered my understanding of optics by studying how the human eye works in great detail...Enough about me, let's get to the subject at hand... The main purpose of binoculars is to magnify an image and make the subject appear larger so that you can see it with greater clarity and detail. This as opposed to a telescope, whose purpose is to gather light from faint and distant objects. On the binocular itself you will find a set of numbers such as 10X50. The magnification factor is the first number, 10X here (note that the X is part of the magnification spec) which means that the binocular will make it seem as though you were ten times closer to the subject . For example, if you were sitting 50 yards away from the action at a football game with a pair of 10X binoculars, it would seem that you were only 5 yards away (50/10=5), a good magnification for this particular use. . Identifying the First Edition: There are only two things that you have to know to insure that you are buying a true First Edition in dustjacket (aka first printing) of The Da Vinci Code. On the copyright page (backside of the titlepage), there must be the words "First Edition" and a numberline reading as follows: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. The "1" in the numberline must be present; There must be a price on the top center of the front dustjacket flap of "U.S. $24.95/Canada $37.95". Important Note: If the book that you are considering doesn't have a dustjacket, then you must take one additional step to verify that it is a collectible First Edition. - Measure the book. The authentic First Edition is 9 1/2 inches tall. The book club edition is 8 1/2 inches tall. - Please scroll down to the last section of this buying guide for more information on How To Tell The Difference Between Book Club Edition Copies Of This Book And First Edition Copies. Size of the First Printing (Is it Rare?): Buyers of vintage Nancy Drew books usually seek books that have

The current "Bible" is COLLECTABLE PAPERBACK BOOKS , A New Vintage Paperback Price Guide , Second Edition , Jeff Canja, Glenmoor Publishing, 2002 ISBN # 6-967369-50. $29.95. It Lists more than 12,600 records of actual sales of collectable paperbacks. The second reference is HANCER'S PRICE GUIDE TO PAPERBACK BOOKS, Third Edition, Wallace-Homestead Book Company 1990 ISBN # 087069-586-3. Over 30, 000 books are listed in this reference. GRADING STANDARDS ACORDING TO CANJA FINE (F) Books graded Fine are unused and like new without any flaws. A Fine book is comparable to a new paperback on a bookstore shelf. Pure white pages are not required for this grade, however, as a slight darkening of the page with age is inevitable. ABOUT FINE (AF) Books in this grade are also unread and like new, but have some very minor imperfections, generally due to storage or shelf wear. For example, the book might have slight edge wear, a small chip at the top or base of the spine, light rubbing of the cover or some other minor flaw. These are extremely high quality books.
