Mopar Car Shows in Southern CA

Here in the Los Angeles area we have some nice Mopar car shows. When you think SoCal you 1st think Spring Fling, and yes this is the granddaddy of all West Coast shows. Hosted by Chrysler Performance West, this is the largest show West of the Mississippi. It is a 2 day show in April of every year, and in 2006 they had their 20th annual show. They will bring in just about every body style and year Mopar you can imagine and then some. They also have a large swap meet and vendor area so you will most likely find that specail part you are looking for. And don't forget the food!

CPW also hosts a 1 day show in October called the Fall Fling. While not as large as the Spring Fling, this annual show in October still packs a quallity crowd.

In it's 3rd year now SouthBay Mopar hosts it's annual "Mopars at the Petersen" at the Petersen Auto Museum the 1st Saturday of August. This show will bring in about 85 to 100 cars of all years and models. The show includes admission into the museum as well as the show. Well worth the trip alone.

Between the Fall Fling and Mopars at the Petersen is Mopar Unlimited's "Mopar Fest". In the past this show was held at the Mukenthaller, however starting in 2006 it will be at Budnik Wheels in Huntington Beach. This too is a quality show that will have a small swap and vendor area as well as the cars. New for this year is the Budnik wheels showroom will be open to the show. Should be a great show.

      The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known California mansion that was under construction continuously for 38 years and is reputed to be haunted. It once was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester, but is now a tourist attraction. Under Sarah Winchester's guidance, construction on the house continued 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, until her death 38 years later on September 5, 1922  The cost for such constant building has been estimated at about US $5.5 million.

      

      The mansion is renowned for its size and lack of a master building plan. According to popular belief, Sarah Winchester thought the house was haunted by the ghosts of individuals killed by Winchester rifles, and that only continuous construction would appease them. It is located at 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, California.

      Deeply saddened by her husband's death and seeking solace, Sarah Winchester consulted a medium on the advice of a friend. According to popular history, the medium, who has become known colloquially as the "Boston Medium", told Winchester that there was a curse upon the Winchester family because the guns they made had taken so many lives. She told Winchester that "thousands of persons have died because of it and their spirits are now seeking vengeance."

      When we go to Paramount's Great America we usualy catch the Millbrae bound BART and transfer to Cal-Train buy the day pass it will save you time get a ticket to zone 3 for each person going, get off in Mountain Veiw and take the VTA to Great America  , don't forget bus tickets, oneway only, it will save you money. When you are ready to go back or the park closes just do every thing in reverse accept you don't need to buy Cal-Train tickets. Have a wonderful traffic free day!
