Reviews & GuidesThree Fun Photo Transfer TechniquesTransferring photos to items these days is all the rage when it comes to crafting or memory projects. The following information gives three different methods for transferring images to projects. A photocopied image; clear packing tape; a burnishing tool such as a bone folder or popsicle stick; a shallow dish; tap water; and a dish towel. 1) Make a black and white or color copy of the image, reversing it if necessary to the image when turn out correctly when reversed. 2) Lay a strip of packing tape sticky side down on top of the photocopied image. Use the burnishing tool to go over the image and make sure it has fully adhered to the tape. 3) Immerse the tape-covered image into a shallow bowl of tap water for up to 15 minutes. Remove the image and pat it dry with the dish towel. Use your fingers to rub off the paper. If you experience difficulty getting the paper to rub off, submerge the tape into the tap water for a few more minutes and repeat the process. 4) Once the paper has been removed, you will have a transparent image left on the tape. Allow this to dry. Once dried, it can be used in numerous projects, such as scrapbooking, decoupage, jewelry items and altered art projects. Matte gel medium; a magazine image or photocopied image; a brush for applying the gel; a shallow bowl; and tap water. 1) Select the desired image which you wish to transfer. Place the image on the work surface face up. 2) Brush the gel medium over the top of the picture. Allow it to dry. Repeat this process 3-5 ... Applying your Motif - Iron-on Heat Transfer DesignThe iron-on heat transfer motif comes ready to iron-on your fabric or t-shirt 2. Slowly peel of the white plastic backing from the clear, sticky plastic where the stones are attached. 4. Now get your iron and with the steam turned off, put it down directly on the motif area. Press only. Do not move your iron. Let it stay in place for at least 20 seconds and then lift. Repeat until the entire design has been heated/ironed. 5. Be careful. The clear plastic will be hot!! Allow to cool and then slowly pull off the adhesive clear plastic from your fabric. If some of the rhinestones are still attached to the clear plastic, put the clear plastic back to your fabric and then re-press those parts again. 6... HELP FOR APPLYING A STUBBORN RUB-ON TRANSFERSometimes, a rub-on transfer can be extremely hard to actually transfer onto a surface. Here's some tips that might help take the frustration away from a mishap and possibly a ruined project. HOW TO APPLY IRON ON RHINESTONE TRANSFERS1. REMOVE THE MOTIF FROM THE STICKER 2. PLACE THE MOTIF ON THE FABRIC 3 PLACE THE FABRIC UNDER THE HEAT PRESSURE AND PRESS IT UNTIL REQUIRED TIME IS FINISHED 4. REMOVE THE MOTIF FROM THE FABRIC AFTER FEW MINUTES 5. FINISHED ***MOST FABRIC IRON ON TIME IS 5 - 7 MINUTES*** Heat Transfer Directions1. Use a dry iron. Preheat the iron to the suggested heat for the fabric you will be using. ( A neutral color cotton/polyester mixed fabric with a good thread count is best for punch embroidery. Pre wash the fabric to remove sizing or starch in new fabric.) Silicone ironing board covers resist the transferring process. Place a tea towel or yard goods between the board cover and your fabric. A terry cloth towel is too thick and leaves too much possibility of movement or slippage which could result in smearing or double stamping. Cut away all notes before transfering. 2. If you are punching the design, iron it on the back of the fabric or the inside of the garment. If you are painting the design, cut away all numbers and notations; iron your pattern onto the front of the fabric or outside of the garment. Use less pressing time for a lighter pattern transfer. 3. Find the location where you wish the design to be, mark the center spot with a small crease using the iron. Finger crease your pattern finding the center. Line up your pattern. Pin in place to prevent the pattern from slipping. 4. To transfer your design, PRESS and LIFT, do NOT slide the iron. Hold the iron in place for 5 to 7 seconds depending on how dark you need the transfer lines to be. The hotter the iron, the faster the design will transfer onto the fabric. If you want darker lines, leave the iron in place a second or two longer. Be careful not to scorch your fabric. 5. Lift a corner of the pattern to see if the design is transferring. Use pins to secure the paper pattern and use the PRESS and LIFT method to move from place to place. The pattern is less li... |
