FAKE North Face Products

FAKE The North Face Products

How do you really know if the item you are bidding on is the real deal? Beware, there are tons of fake North Face products out there. And I'm not talking about just ebay. Because North Face makes such great products dishonest people will copy them. Having been in the outdoor industry for over 10 years I have learned a few things. Here's a quick rundown.

Some of the fake North Face products are actually made in the same factories as the real stuff. Like most companies, The North Face contracts with production facilities to make their products. North Face designs their products and has control over the production. However the people making them actually work for the factory, not North Face. This means that non-North Face companies have North Face designs. Here's an example: The North Face has an order for 1000 jackets. So the factory has their employees work the day shift to make the jackets. And a fine job they do. Unfortunatly, a dishonest factory manager can have the night shift, unsupervised by The North Face representative, make the exact same jacket. Only now they are using inferior materials. They can look the same. They have the same patterns. They can do all the embroidery. They even print authentic tags, including the Gore-Tex and Polarguard tags. It is the same jacket with bad fabrics. It can be hard to tell the real from the fake. That is until you take it skiing. Your so called Gore-Tex jacket is wet in a few runs. Or that super breathable jacket is muggy. Why? Inferior materials.

Another way fakes come to market is by production factories not even related to North Face making the products. These are the ones that look fake. What they do is take a jacket and then do their best to make one that looks the same. These are much easier to spot. The design is not the same.

Either way you are not get...

Canada Goose: Fake or Real?

Show Guide...

Canada Goose fakes are big business.  Don't get ripped off!

If you?re reading this guide, you already know that Canada Goose makes the finest cold-weather gear on earth. But you may not know that, as popular as Canada Goose parkas are in Canada and the colder bits of the U.S., they?re extremely expensive status symbols in Europe. This means that there is serious money in counterfeit Canada Goose parkas.

A lot of shady characters, always ready to make a buck, have picked up on this. Unfortunately, there are lots of fake Canada Goose parkas and jackets around, especially on eBay. This guide will alert you to some of the more obvious scams and fakes.

Rule #1) If the seller is in China, Hong Kong or Thailand, it is a fake. Period.

Canada Goose has no dealers in China, Hong Kong or Thailand. Each of these places do, however, have a huge clothing industry that can make you a Canada Goose parka, an Armani suit or a Louis Vuitton handbag during your lunch hour. If you buy a Canada Goose parka on eBay from a seller in Asia, you will get a fake parka.

Buying a Canada Goose parka from seller in another country -- even Canada -- is no guarantee that you?ll get a genuine Canada Goose. The people selling these fakes aren?t stupid so many have figured out that people are suspicious of parkas being sold from Asian countries. To put you off your guard, many counterfeiters will use an account that makes it appear that the seller is in some other country, often the U.S., Canada or the United Kingdom. The parka is then shipped to you directly from Asia. Some of the more enterprising actually ship their fake parkas to third countries and sell them from there.

Rule #2) If the seller says something like "other sizes and colors available," it is probably a fake.

DON'T RIDE NAKED!!

Show Guide...

The sun is shining it is 80 degrees and you are going to hit the highway screaming on that big gleaming motor scooter that is sitting in your garage. Well, before you climb on that chromed out beast, take at look in the mirror. Are you dressed for a day of riding or are you dressed for a day at the beach?

Start at the feet, are they in those tiretread gucci sandals that you just couldn't pass up or are they in over the ankle leather boots with non-skid soles? Toes do not fair well, when they slip off the pegs at 65 mph. Ten toes seem to fill out shoes so much better than 8 or 9.

Next, look at your legs. Can you see your legs? If you can, that is a big no-no. Exhaust burns on the calves are not cool. They should be covered  at the very least by a good set of denim jeans. If you would like a little more between you and the highway, than the 6 seconds that it takes for asphalt to grind through your levis, padded leather pants or chaps are an option.

Now lets look at the upper torso. Ok, so you work out at the gym everyday for 4 hours. That 6 pack does look good, but at high speeds who can see it anyway?! And ladies, we do not want to cause any accidents out there so keep them covered! Most prefer to ride in a t-shirt or tank, yes it is comfortable but if denim only gives 6 seconds of protection, how much protection will you get out of that shirt? Heavy leather coats are just that, heavy and hot. There are many tightly woven nylon coats out there with added padding and venting. They give good protection, not only from accidents, but also from them darn bugs that hurt when they hit you and most are waterproof.

Now lets look at that mug that is looking back at you. So you think I am going to preach about wearing a helmet? Nop...

HOW TO SPOT A FAKE THE NORTH FACE JACKET

Hello all E-bay friends.

Several people including myself have purchased a fake The North Face Jacket off of E-bay! I have found a few guidelines to help you tell the difference.

1. The fake jacket only comes with one tag attached. It is a red tag and has The North Face written on it and also a price. The real jacket tag comes with 2 to 3 tags! Make sure that the tag reads north face denali jacket instead of Five Boroughs jacket etc...  E-bay sellers of fake North Face Jackets are stealing the tags from real jackets that don't match and attaching them to thier fake one's!

3. Look at the inside stitching of the jacket. The real North Face Jacket has no skips in stitching just smooth zig zag stitching! The real jacket also has no threads hanging that have been cutt due to the machine skipping! The seams of the inside (under the arms)of a real north face jacket are basted together with one complete stick instead of several off line stitches. A real Jacket is made with great guality all seams are faced perfectly.

4. The fleece on the Real North Face Jacket is fuzzy like fleece would be. The fake fleece has a slick feel to it and is almost smooth. The smooth stuff is not water proof anf will not keep you warm!

5. Sometimes the Fake jacket has a very heavy odor due to the fake fleece it is made out of.

6.  Ask the seller if it is real or fake! If real they respond, if fake they ignore you! They are paying $10.00 at the Chinese market for these and then selling them for $100.00 plus dollars!

7.  Look at what other items the seller is selling! Most of the fake ones are for sale along side of fake football jersey's, purses and other items that you fe...

Guide to buying Leather Motorcycle Apparel Online

Show Guide...

You have a choice in Leathers

Ok here you are shopping on ebay for that perfect leather motorcycle jacket, biker chaps, leather pants, or saddlebag. Many ebay sellers show the same catalog picture. However, their is a wide range of prices for what seems to be the same product. Most of the sellers are claiming that they wholesale to the public. So is the one with the cheapest price the true wholesaler? Probably not! Most wholesalers deal in large volume and sell to resellers or retailers who then sell on ebay. So since everyone claims their leathers are the best how do you know what you are getting? Especially since you can't come and feel the leather. Well a little education will go a long way. We hope this will help you make an informed decision when buying leathers online.

Types of Leather:

  1. Full Grain- This is the term for the leather surface without and attempt to hide or conceal the natural markings of the animal which incurred during its lifetime. Like bug bites or barb wire marks. Full grain leather can be either pure aniline or semi-aniline. Full grain is top of the line and the best leather to use for Motorcycle Leathers. When sellers use the term Naked leather they are describing full grain leather that usually runs around 1.5-2.0mm in thickness.

  2. When Full grain leather has ...

Before You Buy A Biker/Motorcycle Jacket, Vest or Chaps

    Show Guide...

    Your Source For Biker Leather

Since the dawn of the age of motorcycling, it was apparent that something was needed to protect the exposed human body from the elements. The natural solution was leather. The leather motorcycle jacket, a style made popular by such movie icons as James Dean and The Fonz, not only serves as a fashion statement, but is an essential piece of equipment to any serious biker for keeping warm, dry, and in one piece. A good riding grade leather jacket combined with motorcycle chaps or leather pants, will act as a second skin between you and the road, and can quite literally ?save your hide?. With all this in mind, let?s explore the things to consider when purchasing motorcycle leathers.

The most common material for motorcycle leather is cowhide, chosen for its strength and durability. Buffalo hide, another high quality leather, is made not from the U.S. buffalo, but the water buffalo most commonly found in India and Pakistan. Many leather products come from this part of the world, and the Pakistanis are world renown for their expertise in the manufacturing of leather garments. Whichever type of hide you choose, you must understand the tanning process, and how it adds or detracts from the quality of the leather.

Leather was of course once the skin of an animal, and therefore must go through a tanning process to strengthen it, and to keep it from decomposing. Tanning makes the skin stable and rot proof without sacrificing its structure and strength. The tanning process involves several stages, including the removal of the hair and the outer layer of skin, as well as the fatty part of the flesh. The hide is then stabilized by one...

How to Spot a Fake Armani Men's Leather Jacket

    Show Guide...

It?s that time of the year when the temperature drops and everyone wants a nice leather jacket. Wouldn?t it be nice to come here on eBay and get a real good deal on an Armani leather jacket? Well, there are a lot of sellers who are knowingly selling fake Armani leather jackets. These jackets do not come close to the quality and craftsmanship of real Armani leather.

Armani has leather jackets from the following lines:

    A/X Armani Exchange
    Armani Jeans
    Mani
    (Sportswear line)
    Mani (Suits, dress shirts)
    Emporio Armani
    Giorgio Armani Neve
    (very rare)
    Giorgio Armani Golf (very rare)
    Armani Collezioni
    Giorgio Armani
    (Black Label)
    Giorgio Armani Classico (Blue Label)
    Armani Privé

Avoid the "RGA/Reportage" suede and leather jackets and other clothing, they are not real Armani and are of poor quality. Armani does not have such a line of clothing! You would be better off buying a leather jacket from a flea market/swap meet or from Wal-Mart. The sellers of "RGA/Armani Reportage" often list "genuine Armani" which should translate to "genuine imitation."

The ?A Collezioni? leather jackets ARE NOT Armani Collezioni leather jackets. It is a separate brand and it NOT related to Armani. The sellers of these jackets are hoping you will not notice the difference.

There are some sellers in the UK and Asia who list some very real looking Emporio Armani leather biker jackets with embroidered "EA" in a circle for Emporio Armani on the top of the left sleeve and the eagle logo embroidered on the bottom on the left side. Usually the selle...

These past few years A Bathing Ape, an upcoming street fashion label has grown past the limits. Offering a very rare and desirable collection for the rich and famous. Everything from tshirts, jeans and jackets to thier famous Bapesta's. One of thier rarest projects was between Adidas, The very rare collections consisted of 3 pairs of shoes, all 3 where collaborations between A Bathing Ape and Adidas. In my opinion the most sought after pair, and the pair that has the most non-authentic replicas behind are the camoflauge super ape stars, This pair was limited to 500 pairs worldwide and sold out in minutes from the Busy Work Shops. Some of the fakes floating around ebay seem and look very convincing, they like the authentics have a box, packing paper, and all the laces at times, and both the key chain and factory tag. The easiest way to spot a fake is by the size, the Bathing ape adidas only come in US half sizes or UK whole sizes, for example US9.5 will be UK9. If you spot a US9/UK9.5, its a fake. Other ways to spot fakes are more complicated but can be easily spotted if you are aware of what to look for, this list will give you a better understanding.

    1) The Ape keychain is on the LEFT shoe, attached with nylon fishing line.
    2) There are only 2 pairs of laces, and usually with the white monogram one laced on the shoe.
    3) The tongue has a slight variation in color, whether it be the leather tone or the print tone.Fakes usually have blue ape-head print instead of black.
    4) The heel tab is overly large.
    5) The paper wrapper is printed on glossy paper, the box camo print is not as clear.

What Size Chaps Will Fit Me?

I have two sets of chaps that fit me well. I had to buy a second pair when my small kid started wearing my original pair.
One pair is a size small, the other is size large (they are from different manufacturers) and both fit.

There is no standard sizing for chaps. It also doesn't matter about male or female. Because chaps are essentially leggings
attached to a belt by a strap, women may wear mens chaps and look great in them. There are special womens chaps but they
aren't really any different in fit from mens chaps. They just cost extra. Save your money, just buy mens chaps and follow these
tips to get them to fit properly.

Believe it or not, the most important measurement is your thigh. Chaps should fit snug but not tight over your jeans.
You should be able to stick two fingers down the top of the leg with no problem.

The waist and length are adjustable.

Notice in the picture that the middle of the back of the belt is where leather laces tie the chaps together.

You can tie them so the two halves overlap or spread apart to get about 6 inches of adjustment.
Also, the top is a belt so you can pull it tighter or leave it looser just like any other belt.

The length is set by cutting off the excess while you are wearing the chaps with the boots you will wear riding
and while sitting down. They should rest on the top of your boots just behind your toes while sitting. This will
give good protection while you are riding. When you stand up they should be longer than normal pants and
    probably touch the floor.

Don't try to hem the chaps like you would a pair of pants that you've had tailored. Chaps are meant ...

FAKE COLUMBIA MERCHANDISE: How to spot it!

IF THIS GUIDE IS HELPFUL TO YOU, PLEASE CLICK ONTO THE YES BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. THANKS!

There are pages and pages of fake Columbia items that keep making their way to Ebay. There are many legitimate Columbia sellers, that have 1000's of positive feedbacks. If I were a buyer, that's who I'd buy from. Beware of the international sellers that are having their items shipped directly to you from China. Authentic Columbia merchandise must be purchased from an authorized dealer, it cannot be purchased directly from the factory. Even authorized dealers must purchase their goods directly from Columbia. Here are some things to look for, when making your purchase:

    1) There must be a Columbia tag in the lower left inside of the jacket, that shows the model number of the coat. It could start with an F or S and could say S04, S05, S06, F04, F05, F06..etc, then there are 4 numbers that follow. The 4 numbers that follow that, are the actual model number.

    2) On mens coats, the fake coats typically have the zipper, zipping up the wrong side, like it was a ladies coat.

    3) If the price looks too good to be true, it probably is. Honest sellers that are selling authentic Columbia Sportswear merchandise, cannot afford to give the items away. High quality merchandise, such as Columbia, is expensive, even at our cost. NWsalesconnection Ebay store

    4) Does the seller list the model name of the jacket? It seems that most of the fake items being listed, have no model name, no color name, etc. They are simply being listed as "new Columbia jacket". If the seller doesn't list the model or color name, email them for more information. Ask them for the model name, Columbia color name, and the mod...

Finding Authentic The North Face on ebay

    Show Guide...

Finding an authentic The North Face item on ebay is getting harder these days. We have one of the few stores along with some others that sell only 100% authentic items. The items I would watch for are jackets that include a fleece liner, almost 99% of them on ebay are fakes. Be careful buying from overseas, and ask them for the CA and RN numbers on the jacket. This guide is to aid in the finding of 100% authentic The North Face merchandise. Please use this only as a guide, and feel free to ask any questions you might have, and browse our store and others who sell Quality The North Face items, and remember the higher the feedback the more likely it is authentic.

    Things to watch for:

Sellers from China and other foreign country's (most are selling fakes, i have not seen an authentic piece come from a seller in china yet)

The price - if it seems to good to be true it more than likely is (for example a BIN of 39.99 on a 300.00 jacket, come on now)

Sellers that do not offer paypal (this is the safest form of payment)

The inside of the jacket (mountain guides do not look cheap, and 99% of them on ebay are fake) they do not come with a liner, they have to be purchased seperately.

Please email us if you would like to confirm an authentic item, whether it is from us or not.

    Dressing Warm for Cold Weather

    Show Guide...

    Our eBay Store
Momma always told you to layer your clothing to stay warm just like her momma told her. The mystery is: what the heck is that layering thing?  Is it as simple as a tee-shirt and a jacket? Does it matter what kind of clothing it is? Yes and yes. Layering is all about flexibility.  Remove clothes when you are hot, adding when you are cold. But, beyond the basics, it is critical when trying to stay warm in very cold temperatures. Here?s why.
Your body loses heat 4 ways.  Hard to believe isn?t it? Some heat is lost through Convection or the transfer of heat through flowing liquid or air. One molecule picks up the heat from you and then goes away. The next molecule picks up some more heat and goes away, etc. Nature hates cold, so heat always tries to go to the cold place to warm it up. Air and fluid are very effective at allowing heat to travel. This is one reason why it is so dangerous to be wet in cold weather or in water that is colder than your body.  The heat flows from your body trying to heat up the water. However, an air space that can?t get out of your clothing is VERY effective at insulating your body.
Radiant heat is transfer by light, primarily by invisible infrared light. The sun can warm you even without any air present.
Conductive heat loss happens through solids or liquids, like leaning against a cold object. This is when the heat passes from one molecule to the next and without moving; it passes that heat on to another molecule.

Evaporative heat loss (which is a form of convection) happens when water steals the heat in order to become a vapor. Since liquid flows fast and easy, the heat loss can be extreme. The temperature of the part in contact with water can drop ...

    Show Guide...

My wife recently purchased a jacket and chaps set from Jillian Leather for me:

    Jillian Leather

She thought she would get a good deal on leather and have me protected on my motorcycle at a fraction of the cost. We knew going into this that it was patchwork but what we didn't know was how poor the quality was.

Out of the box the fit was very poor with the liner's zipper sitting oddly and chaffing my neck. Even after 2 weeks worth of wear I could not get the jacket to fit properly. The leather started loosing colour immediatly in wear areas such as the belt and after only a week of this I had had enough. I emailed the company with my complaints.

Now here is the kicker. It seems to me they only answer their email once a week. After numerous emails I would only receive a response on Fridays. If you don't believe me try it a few times yourself. I asked them how to return the item and here is the response to my emails.

In the first I asked how to retun an item:

Be sure all tags are attached and in the packing it came in. Send a note in the box requesting refund. your refund will be purchase price minus a restocking fee and half shipping. Check out our return policy on the auction page.

In the second I asked what would happen if I did not have the original package of tags:

If the tags are not attached an it's more than 15 days we will not receive the merchandise back. Thanks

Well as you can imagine my 15 days were up at this point as I started a week late and they only answer their emails weekly. Honestly my issue is not with the item, although it is junk. but with their return policy of "guarantee." it is a policy that is designed to...

Generally if all the same "stones" are the same size, it's a FAKE! Ask for pictures of the back of the shirt where you should see the space man just below the collar. Check the back of the first tag which should read "wealth is of the mind [...]".

COMPLETE GUIDE TO BUYING BAPE SWEATERS AND HOODIES

    Show Guide...

This is a small mini guide to show you major key points to identifying whether or not the BAPE clothing you are about to purchase is real or fake. EBAY has been notoriously known for having auctions with fake items, everything from high end fashion to shoes to electronics. They pretty much have a bootleg version of everything. Also i apologize because ebay made the pictures small while I was uploading and it is harder to see.

PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER GUIDE ON BUYING REAL BAPE SHOES.

DO NOT BUY FAKE CLOTHES OR FAKE SHOES!

...with that being said, lets begin with the guide.

In this guide, you will be able to tell the difference between fake and real A Bathing Ape sweaters, hoodies, shoes etc.
You have to also keep in mind that BAPE and BABY MILO and other BAPE related brands are always changing the little small unnoticable things to throw off the counterfitters.

Now, moving on to the hoodies and sweaters.

A quick and easy way to check the hoodies is the material. For the most part, fakes have a very fluffy material, like most brand new, unwashed sweatshirts. Real ones, however, have an almost towel-like weave to them.

Here are some pictures of real hoodies and sweaters.

    1. If someone in China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or anywhere else in Southeast Asia claims to be selling new CG parkas, forget it. They're made in Canada. Occasionally the crooks try selling them from places in western Canada and in the U.S.  Some of those listings, though, are for genuine products, so you've gotta use your common sense.
    2.  If the pictures are borrowed from the CG website, be dubious. You want pictures of the actual item being sold. Take a peek at the CG website to see what their products really look like. It's canada-goose dot com.
    3.  If the product looks really thin and flat, it doesn't have much insulation of any kind.
    4.  If the fur trim looks black/brownish/short/lumpy/skimpy, it's not a CG coyote-trimmed parka, but a knock-off with dog fur. If it's fluffy brilliant white, it's a fake.
    5. If all their feedback is for selling things that are completely unrelated to parkas, and now they've got a bunch of brand-new...

Use thermal underwear made of synthetic fibers like polyester and polypropylene to wick moisture away from the skin. Avoid natural fibers such as cotton, they tend to hold moisture close to the skin and dry very slowly.

Insulating Layer: The insulating layer creates dead air space between the layers of clothing, trapping warm body air and keeping it around the body. Look for outerwear that is warm, water-resistant and well insulated with a synthetic fiber such as Thinsulate?? Insulation.

How can you spot a fake? The North Face

    Show Guide...

How can you spot a fake?  I have found that its pretty hard to tell over the web, but here's a few pointers I have picked up .

    1. Don't go by feedback alone.   Many people are in a hurry to give positive feedback because the fakes can look pretty good.  Once left, it cannot be changed.   Then two weeks later, seams pop, your zipper breaks,  or you spot your coat in the store and its not the same....not remotely.

    2. Avoid sellers with multiples of the same jacket and style.

    3. Avoid sellers with a low score.   .   What the distict possibility is, in instances like this, is that the seller frequently changes names to avoid problems and identification.

    4.  Email the seller.  Ask the question.  Are your items authentic?  Yes or No?   If I send it to the manufacturer for authentication, will it pass the test?  If it doesn't, will you promise to take the item back, including shipping?  (actually, if you get documentation, paypal will make them take it back, but who needs the hassle.)    I have done this and gotten a range of answers.    Some say "Yes and please feel free to authenticate my items, I encourage it.    Another said to me..."I honestly dont know, they tell me that they are real when I buy them."  Another said to me..."please do not bid on my item".       Ok, huge red flags there.  I think you can easily tell who has the goods.

    5.  If you have any doubt, whatsoever, about the authenticity of your product, send it to the manufacturer.  The North Face will gladly, at no ...

    Fake Abercrombie Adirondack Jacket

I just wanted to share my experience purchasing an Abercrombie Adirondack Jacket.  I recently purchased this jacket from a reputable seller.  The jacket was new with tags attached and was made in India.  With what I'd been able to find out I was sure that I was making a good purchase.  When the jacket got here it didn't fit right and it zipped up the wrong side.  We were going to the mall that day so we took the jacket with us.  To my surprise the jacket was a FAKE and a good one at that.  Abercrombie confirmed that there are many of these jackets floating around.  It looked just like the ones in the store.  They even did up the tag the same, but they scanned it and it came up invalid merchandise.  Anyway, now we have a fake Abercrombie jacket that doesn't fit.  I informed the seller of this incident and I got no response (wasn't surprised).  Just a warning, be so careful what you buy.
